Kidney stones can be one of the most painful medical conditions you can experience. For some, managing the pain can be as simple as over-the-counter ibuprofen, but for others, it may require surgical intervention to find relief. The severity really depends on the size and location of the stone.
If you’re experiencing severe pain or suspect a kidney stone, don’t hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for guidance.

Did you know there are medications that can help prevent kidney stones? Depending on your stone type, your doctor may recommend: potassium citrate or sodium bicarbonate to reduce urine acidity, calcium citrate to bind oxalates, or meds that lower high calcium levels in your urine.
Every stone is different, and so is the treatment. Talk to your doctor to find the right fit.

Thinking about using apple cider vinegar for kidney stone prevention? 🍏
While it's often touted as a natural remedy, we generally don't recommend it for kidney stone prevention. The acidity can actually irritate the kidneys and may not provide the benefits some think.
For true kidney stone prevention, it's better to focus on staying hydrated, reducing salt intake, and eating a balanced diet. Always consult with a healthcare professional for guidance on what works best for your kidney health!

What causes kidney stones? Dehydration is the #1 culprit. 💧
When you don’t drink enough water—especially in warm climates—minerals in your urine can crystalize and form stones.
If you live in a hot environment, aim for 100 oz of water a day to help keep your kidneys clear.

Myth: If you get kidney stones, you should avoid calcium.
Truth: Your body needs a normal level of calcium to prevent stones from forming. In fact, too little calcium can make things worse!
So go ahead and enjoy milk, yogurt, and cheese—just don’t overdo it. A balanced diet is key to keeping your kidneys happy.

Are kidney stones dissolvable? Some are, but most are made of calcium oxalate or calcium phosphate, which typically don’t dissolve on their own. That’s why it’s so important to know what type of stone you have.
Talk to your doctor to find the right treatment plan for you.
