UC Irvine is the only American Burn Association / American College of Surgeons, Verified center in Orange County. More than 350 inpatients and 400 outpatients are treated each year. UC Irvine Regional Burn Center has led the nation in burn care with advanced surgical techniques and innovations in synthetic skin treatments. Treatment programs are offered for all types of burns and skin diseases, an
d recovery programs are individually tailored to specific injuries. Cutting edge, compassionate burn care is complimented by aftercare programs designed to heal the spirit and allow burn survivors to thrive emotionally and socially. Burn care specialists are available daily to assess injuries, while the outpatient nursing staff and therapists perform wound care, dressing changes, and physical and occupational therapy. This office also serves as a transition for patients with larger burns following discharge from the hospital. UC Irvine Regional Burn Center serves as the primary educational resource for burn care in Orange County. Our educational mission includes ongoing medical training to other professionals, such as fire service personnel, paramedics, and fellow Orange County physicians and nurses. Our faculty physicians and nursing staff provide specialized education in burn care including Advanced Burn Life Support classes.
