Celebrating champions of Athletic Training

CATA recognizes Dr. Keith Feder for his leadership in building pathways to sports medicine care for student athletes across Los Angeles. Through the West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation and the Team to Win program, Dr. Feder has created opportunities for underserved communities to access high quality orthopedic care and sports medicine services.

His work reflects a deep understanding of the full care continuum, from injury prevention and sideline management to surgical care and return to play. Within that model, Dr. Feder has consistently supported the role of athletic trainers as key providers who help bridge access, coordination, and daily care for student athletes.

Through his outreach, leadership, and commitment to service, Dr. Feder has helped strengthen sports medicine systems and expand access to care throughout Southern California.

CATA thanks Dr. Feder for his continued dedication to student-athlete health and the advancement of athletic training.

AB 796 is now B&P 2529.8.1, officially establishing athletic training as a healthcare profession in California.

This is NOT a licensure bill, but it DOES provide title protection and recognition of athletic trainers as healthcare professionals under California law. A major step forward for the profession and for athlete healthcare across the state.

CATA was proud to support the 2026 Emergency Care in Sport (ECS) Conference hosted by University of Georgia Sports Medicine and the Los Angeles Rams. Participants learned alongside top providers from the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, and NCAA, all focused on advancing emergency medicine in sport.

Through expert led presentations and immersive scenario based labs, ECS emphasized the importance of emergency preparedness, including Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), proper event coverage, emergency equipment management, and ongoing education to ensure the highest standard of care for athletes facing life or limb threatening emergencies.
We were especially fortunate to have discussions with NFL Chief Medical Officer, LA Rams Head Physician, and LA RAMS Head ATC Reggie Scott during a press conference advocating for mandatory access to Certified Athletic Trainers in California and continued efforts toward licensure for all California ATs.

*Please note: title protection terminology referenced during the interview was later corrected.*
