Breastlink has always been a leader in breast health. We believe the best treatment combines the expertise of medical experts at each point of the care continuum (diagnostic imaging, pathology, surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology). This is why we emphasize a collaborative approach to breast cancer diagnoses, what we call a treatment planning conference, where our network of oncologist

s, surgeons and other specialists discuss each patient’s case and work to develop a coordinated treatment plan to maximize the chance of a cure. Each patient is unique; an appropriate treatment plan must be personalized for you. Conversations between patients and our breast-dedicated professionals help us grow to understand each patient’s unique story. Patients, and their families, will have every question answered the first day you walk through our doors. There truly is no such thing as a “bad” question. The Breastlink treatment model ensures patients leave our doors the first day with a treatment plan and the information to make informed decisions. One team.

Can men get breast cancer? The answer is yes, and awareness matters. 💙

At our Dance Your Way to Health event, Breast Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Lauren DeStefano answered an important audience question about male breast cancer and the importance of knowing your body.

While breast cancer in men is rare, it can still happen, and because there are currently no routine screening guidelines for average-risk men, self-awareness plays an important role in early detection.

Men should speak with their doctor if they notice:
‱ A lump or swelling in the chest area
‱ Changes to the skin or ni**le
‱ Ni**le discharge
‱ Persistent pain or tenderness

Knowing what’s normal for your body and speaking up about changes can make a difference.

Do you still need your annual screening mammogram if you don’t have a family history of breast cancer?

Dr. Lauren DeStefano, Breast Surgical Oncologist at Cedars-Sinai, explains why the answer is yes.

About 80% of breast cancers are considered sporadic, meaning they occur in people with no family history. Because of this, regular screening is still essential, even if you don’t think you’re at risk.

Screening helps detect cancer early, when it’s most treatable. Schedule yours today. đŸ©”

Breast pain? You’re not alone.

It’s actually very common and often not linked to cancer, but there are times when you should pay closer attention. If the pain is focal (in one specific spot), it’s important to talk to your doctor.

When in doubt, get it checked. Your peace of mind matters.
