Not all salivary gland surgeries are the same.

Dr. Oliaei explains the key difference between salivary gland removal and sialendoscopy.

Traditional gland removal requires an external incision, longer recovery time, and more invasive surgery. Sialendoscopy, on the other hand, is performed through the mouth, uses a tiny endoscope to access the ducts, is minimally invasive, and typically involves faster, easier recovery.

This advanced technique allows doctors to treat blockages and stones while preserving your natural salivary gland. If you’re experiencing salivary gland swelling, pain, or infections, modern treatment options like sialendoscopy may help.

Think salivary gland surgery means weeks of downtime? Think again.

Dr. Oliaei is here to bust that myth! With sialendoscopy, recovery can be as little as 1–7 days

-Minimal downtime
-Minimal lifestyle restrictions
-Back to work & activities quickly

Sialendoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure done through the mouth, meaning less disruption to your daily life and a much faster return to normal.

Don’t let outdated information keep you from feeling better.

Did you know there are new treatments for chronic runny nose?

There are two newer in-office procedures showing great promise:
✔️ Radiofrequency ablation
✔️ Cryoablation

Both treatments target and disrupt the nerves in the back of the nose that constantly signal your nose to run.

The best part? They are performed in the office with minimal downtime and are designed for long-term relief.

If you struggle with a chronic runny nose, reach out to your doctor to learn more about these treatment options.

What are the complications of salivary gland stones?

Even though these stones can be tiny, the complications can be serious. They can block saliva flow, leading to painful swelling and infection. In severe cases, patients can end up hospitalized and need IV antibiotics.

Don’t ignore persistent pain or swelling...get it checked early.

Do you experience swelling in your face or under your jaw after eating?

You may be dealing with a salivary gland stone. This condition can also cause repeated infections of the salivary glands, discomfort, and swelling, especially around mealtimes.

⚠️ If you’re noticing these symptoms, it’s important to reach out for further evaluation and workup to prevent complications and get relief.

Early diagnosis can make a big difference.

Are there treatments for a chronic runny nose?

Yes, there are promising new in-office procedures that can help.

- Radiofrequency ablation of the posterior nasal nerves allows us to reach the back of the nose and use radiofrequency energy to disrupt the nerves that constantly signal your nose to run. This can significantly reduce or even eliminate chronic runny nose.

- Cryoablation of the posterior nasal nerves works in a similar way, but instead uses controlled freezing to target those same nerves.

Both procedures are done in the office and are designed for long-term relief.

If a runny nose is affecting your daily life, talk to your doctor about these options.

Are there ways to prevent salivary stones?

Dr. Oliaei explains that while prevention isn’t always possible, staying well-hydrated can help. Drinking plenty of water thins saliva, making it less likely to leave deposits that can lead to stone formation 💧

Is there a less invasive way to remove certain parotid tumors?

Dr. Oliaei explains that for some small, benign tumors located lower in the parotid gland, it may be possible to remove only the portion around the tumor using an extracapsular dissection technique. This approach can offer a more targeted and minimally invasive option for eligible patients.

Always talk to your surgeon to see what’s right for you.
