This week, April 20th -26th, Genetics Center is excited to celebrate Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, also known as Lab Week! Lab Week takes place annually during the last week of April, and is now celebrating 50 years since its establishment in 1975 by the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. Additionally, this Wednesday, April 23rd is Administrative Professionals Day!

We are very grateful for the medical laboratory professionals, genetic counselors, administrative assistants, and support staff, each of whom plays an essential role in the healthcare industry. Genetics Center is proud to honor these dedicated individuals for their hard work and commitment toward patient care.

From March 18th-21st, 2025, Genetics Center is celebrating the 7th annual Medical Genetics Awareness Week! Organized by the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG), Medical Genetics Awareness Week aims to highlight the invaluable contributions that medical genetics healthcare professionals make in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of genetic diseases. ACMG has designated this year's theme as "Celebrating the Contributions of the Entire Medical Genetics Team to Patient Care and Public Health."

Here at Genetics Center, our medical genetics clinical and laboratory team are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of patients and families. We are glad to continue to celebrate and support this initiative to promote awareness for this dynamic field.

Join us in celebrating Genetic Counselor Awareness Day on November 14, 2024. Genetics Counselors are leading the way in personalized healthcare by helping patients understand their personal and family history, guiding them through genetic testing options, and helping to interpret those testing results. We celebrate the team of counselors at Genetics Center that play an important and supportive role that empowers individuals to make the appropriate decisions for their health.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we'd like to take this opportunity to put an emphasis on early detection. Breast cancer accounts for 1 in 3 of all new female cancers each year. Advances in early detection and treatment can significantly increase survival rates.

Knowing your genetic risk factors can play a huge role in early detection. Through our genetic counseling and hereditary cancer testing, our wonderful team of medical genetics healthcare professionals can help shed light and empower you with that knowledge.
