Actio Biosciences, Inc.’s investigational drug for KCNT1-related epilepsy has been approved to begin Phase 1 clinical trials in healthy volunteers—the first step in human testing. It has also received Fast Track designation from the FDA, recognizing the urgency and severe unmet need for treatments.

This milestone reflects the dedication of the Actio team and the importance of the caregiver voice in the process. We are hopeful that trials for our affected children will open up soon after this phase. Grateful to the Actio team!

I didn’t have to look far to find a role model.
He was right down the hall, in scrubs, telling stories about cracked chests and second chances.

My dad, John West, didn’t just choose medicine — he lived it. I grew up watching him pour everything into his patients, never taking shortcuts, always showing up. His passion was contagious. At 15, I was scrubbing into surgeries with him. Not many teenagers can say they spent their afternoons in the OR beside their dad, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
