UCI OBGYN 44th Annual Residents Paper Day and 37th Annual Philip J. DiSaia Society Symposium Faculty Professor and Speaker: Dipti Banerjee, MD, MPH

Dr. Dipti Banerjee is an academic obstetrician and gynecologist providing care to patients from adolescence to menopause. She has clinical expertise in benign gynecologic disorders, gynecologic surgery, reproductive health, infertility, pregnancy, childbirth, preventative health screening and gender affirming care. She practices patient centered care and shared decision-making to develop tailored treatment plans for each patient.

Anjali Y. Hari, MD, assistant professor in at and gynecologist , has dedicated herself to building a training partnership with a Tanzanian medical center over the past 13 years.

“Global health should be about teaching and education and capacity building, not just donating supplies or money,” says Dr. Hari, who specializes in gynecologic cancers.

For more than a decade, Hari has worked with clinicians in Tanzania to build a sustainable partnership between and the Bugando Medical Center focused on OB/GYN training and research. She and her UCI Health colleagues have collaborated with Bugando physicians in Mwanza — Tanzania’s second largest city — on training, research and surgical care.

“What started as a training program for mid-level providers to screen for and treat cervical cancer has grown into a global collaboration that includes joint research projects, a graduate medical education rotation and building cancer center capacity together.”
