I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be featured once again on the Nerdy Optometrist Podcast! It’s always a pleasure to connect, share, and continue spreading awareness about something I’m deeply passionate about.

Being able to use my voice as a spokesperson for myopia management is incredibly rewarding. This is more than just a topic, it’s a mission to educate, empower, and create real change in how we approach eye health for future generations.

You can watch the full episode now on YouTube on the Nerdy Optometrist channel!

In rooms full of black and white suits, I choose pink and purple. Not just for style, but for brand recognition, confidence, and presence.

Over time, those colors have become part of who I am professionally. They reflect my passion, my purpose, and the energy I bring into every space I walk into.

But more importantly, this is your reminder: you don’t have to blend in to belong. Be bold. Be authentic. Show up as your true self because that’s where your power is!

To all the women building their path: take up space, own your presence, and don’t be afraid to stand out.

And if you’re ever at a conference or event and you see a bright pop of pink or purple… you’ll know it’s me. 😉

This year, my birthday felt less about celebrating me… and more about appreciating everything around me.

When I was asked what I wanted for my birthday, I paused. The truth is, I already have so much. I have my health. My children are healthy. I’m surrounded by love, purpose, and the most incredible community.
So that’s when I realized…I don’t really need anything.

So instead of gifts, I chose to give back.

If you’d like to celebrate with me in a meaningful way, I invite you to make a donation to my nonprofit, Myopia Brighter Futures Foundation. This foundation is very close to my heart and helps provide children with access to the myopia care they need for a brighter future. You can donate through the Zelle to gmoheep@gmail.com or by scanning the QR code.

And to my wonderful friends and family who came to celebrate and have already contributed, thank you. Your generosity, love, and support mean more to me than I can put into words. Together, we are truly making an impact. ✨

This year, I’m choosing simplicity. I’m choosing gratitude. I’m choosing to appreciate the beautiful, simple blessings we already have.
Thank you for being part of my journey.

I’m honored to share that I will be speaking at the upcoming International Vision Expo & Conference 2026 as part of a powerful panel hosted by Latinos en Optometry.

Bridging Cultures in Chronic Disease Eye Care: Better Conversations, Better Outcomes will explore how culturally responsive communication can improve care for communities disproportionately affected by diabetes, hypertension, and glaucoma.

🗓 Thursday, March 12
⏰ 11:15 AM – 11:45 AM
📍 Vision Stage

Moderated by Ashley Mills, CEO of The Vision Council, I’ll be joining an incredible group of leaders to discuss how trust, culture, and communication directly influence patient understanding and long-term adherence in chronic disease eye care.

This conversation is especially meaningful to me as we continue working to reduce disparities in Hispanic/Latino and African American communities and strengthen culturally mindful care in optometry.

The session is free and open to students, practitioners, and all members of the eye-care community.

👀 Sometimes the signs are subtle…until they’re not.

Squinting, sitting too close to the TV, or struggling to see things at a distance can be easy to overlook, but they may be early clues that a child’s vision is changing.

The good news? Myopia can be managed, and early awareness makes all the difference. This is just the beginning of the conversation, more helpful guidance and treatment options coming soon. 💜

I always love welcoming students into the office to shadow and learn more about myopia management and Ortho-K 👁️✨

Creating space for students to ask questions, observe, and truly understand these areas of optometry is something I care deeply about. Myopia management and Ortho-K are becoming increasingly important in how we care for patients, and I’m passionate about helping make these topics more visible and accessible within our profession.

Mentorship is a big part of my practice, and having students visit regularly is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. These students are the future of optometry, and I’m so grateful to be part of their growth and journey. 💜

This is why I love what I do! 💜 Ortho-K isn’t just about clearer vision, it’s about freedom, confidence, and watching my patients light up when they realize what’s possible. From the classroom to the playing field, seeing kids live fully without limitations is the most rewarding part of my day.

Those smiles at the end? That’s everything. ✨

Not another one…
But honestly? At OK Love, our leafy companions are more than just decor. We believe plants help enhance the patient experience by creating a space that feels inviting, calming, and warm from the moment you walk in. 🌱💜

They add beauty, help improve air quality, and bring a sense of calm, because eye care should feel relaxing, not rushed.

Next time you’re in our office, take a moment to discover our plant family… there may be a few new ones. 😉🌿

More kids need glasses than ever before...and it’s not just genetics. 👀
Screens, close-up work, and less outdoor time all play a role in how children’s eyes grow. The earlier myopia starts, the faster it can progress.

The good news? Understanding why it’s happening is the first step in protecting your child’s vision.

Follow along as we share simple, parent-friendly tips to support healthy eyesight as kids grow. 💜
