StarShine Academy Schools opened in 2002 as a research site to bring together world scientists and passionate, highly evolved educators to work together to develop a different environment for children to learn the way to learn. As systems’ designers and practitioners, those of us wanting a better way for children to grow up, recognized the current system as unable to reach all children, so all children can learn to grow and thrive. StarShine studied well-developed models of excellence, like Montessori and Waldorf schools and brought in some of the most innovative thought leaders of today. We studied any school we could find to see if we could challenge ourselves to create a better model, a better way for each child to be able to learn the basic things needed to produce a fascinating, engaging, responsible, caring, life with the ability to welcome change and to be able to participate in building long-standing relationships with others.
