South Mountain Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense

South Mountain Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Self-Defense Academy. We offer programs for Kids, Adults. Ages 3 and up.

"We focus on teaching kids strong values and solid character through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We focus on core values like focus, discipline, persistence, cooperation, and respect. These core values often carry over to the child’s behavior at home and at school. Our adult programs are for both men and women and start at ages 15 and up. (Ages 12+) provides an intense, full-body workout that’s the perfect way to lose weight, increase your muscle mass, and get into great shape. All while learning practical Self -Defense in a very challenging yet safe and caring environment."

Your kid can be the one others look UP to! 🙌

The one who leads by example instead of following the crowd. Who knows their voice MATTERS and isn't afraid to use it.

Let's help them build that confidence on the mats! Our kids jiu-jitsu classes are all about developing those natural leadership skills while having a blast.

When kids hit moments of boredom, tiredness, nervousness, or fear, it can feel easier to let them step away. But if quitting becomes the pattern, the hidden lesson is:
🚫 “You can’t handle discomfort.”
🚫 “Avoid challenge.”
🚫 “Quit when it gets hard.”
Jiu-Jitsu isn’t just about self-defense. It’s about emotional growth, impulse control, respect, and resilience. Kids who stick with it learn how to carry themselves with confidence — and that changes everything.
💡 For kids who feel like quitting, I recommend training twice per week to avoid burnout.
And remember — once a week is still powerful. I’ve seen kids make incredible progress in confidence, skill, and self-defense even training just once weekly.
(See the front desk for options on training once per week)
As a coach and mom of 2, I urge you:
✨ Find a way to keep Jiu-Jitsu in your child’s life.
It may be one of the greatest gifts you give them.
🥋💙
