Finished renewing my CLC for another 3 years!

As a lactation informed therapist, it is extremely important for me to understand the dynamics that go into infant feeding. It has been 6 years since I did my initial training for my lactation counselor certification and to maintain that, I am required to do lactation specific continuing education. It is so important to know your therapist and where they have expertise and training. Here is another one of the areas I love!

I am so lucky to have so many IBCLCs that I work closely with to support my OT clients and look forward to the continued collaboration!

The holiday season is in full swing!

🎁Less is more. The more toys you give children access to at one time, the more over stimulated they feel and more likely they are to bounce from toy to toy quickly.

🎁 Look for multi use toys or toys that will last through several ages and stages. There are some staples that are played with from early toddlerhood to school age.

🎁 Open ended play items are great! Toys that allow and encourage pretend play allow for many different uses.

🎁 Shop local as often as you can. There are several links for these toys at . They not only ship but also price match!

🎁 Experiences are a great thing to gift or receive! A membership to your local zoo, aquarium or botanical gardens are great. We love and

Standing activity centers that we place baby into are not my favorite and there are lots of reasons but a big one is hip health.

Activity centers also do not give baby a chance to practice their balance skills, catching them selves if they lose balance as well as the transitioning skills to get in and out of positions.

If you are going to use one, I highly recommend waiting until baby has been crawling and is able to pull to stand first. This helps us know that baby has the strength and joint stability to tolerate that position. Or use it as a table that baby pulls to stand and skirts around the outside instead of placing them in the middle in the seat.

If you were considering getting one, I would say skip it!

Today at we had Lauren from guest speaking in the Newborn B class! The Phoenix baby community has so many amazing providers and Lauren is definitely one of them.

My favorite moment was when a mom asked about feeding her baby to sleep. Lauren responded that she would never tell you what to do because that answer is always going to depend on you and your individual family. If it feels right for your family and your intuition pulls you somewhere, listen to that.

I always learn something new whenever I hear Lauren talk and today was no different.
