Pressure ulcers (bed sores) can look like a bruise or a blister in the beginning.

They form when a large amount of pressure is applied to a region of the body for a short period of time. Or, when a smaller amount of pressure is applied to a region over a long period of time. This pressure disrupts the blood flow to the affected region through deformation of the skin.

This lack of blood flow manifests through discoloring of the skin- red, purple, blue patches that do not turn white when pressed.

Jackson Medical Solutions wishes you all Happy Holidays, safe travels, and a beautiful New Year.

In 2022, we moved the company to Phoenix, joined an accelerator, developed our technology further, mentored a senior design team and interns, expanded our network across the nation, and more. We celebrate where we've been and we're excited to see what 2023 has in store.

We'd love to hear your top experience of 2022!

As we near graduation from Newchip Accelerator, we want to spotlight our Venture Fellow, Gic-Owens Fiestan. As a MD/MBA student at The University of Michigan, Gic was able to relay his business knowledge and supplement instruction with MedTech, Healthcare, and the Life Sciences in mind.

Along with a few other companies, Jackson Medical was able to participate in dialogue around the challenges and successes that occurred within the month. Each Mastermind was an invitation to learn more about topics discussed within online modules- but more importantly, they were an opportunity to learn from each other as mutual business leaders.

We are thankful for the opportunity to connect with Gic and look forward to future conversations.

Jackson Medical Solutions is proud to mentor a group of enthusiastic and brilliant engineers in the The University of Arizona & UA College of Engineering's Craig M. Berge Engineering Design Program. As Alumni and lifelong learners, we believe in reinvesting into education and our community.

These Wildcats have been working on a mixed reality headset software which will be applied to current medical problems. Larger issues they are attempting to address include accessibility of care, affordability of care, and safety of patients. As the project develops, we will be more than happy to share more details.

We will post individual bios of the members of Team 23083 in the coming weeks.

The Jackson Medical Team had a wonderful time learning about local startups and small businesses at round 2 of this year's IdeaFunding Pitch Competition. We thank Startup Tucson and University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) for organizing this annual event.

There are a diverse group of companies pitching this year, including (but not limited to): the first walk-in/pick-up coffee shop in southern Tucson, a pet food brand that keeps your pet's breath fresh, a comic series that teaches college-level chemistry concepts to 8+ yr olds, a mental health app to keep athletes focused and prepared, a beauty salon silk hair cap to decrease heat exposure from salon hair dryers, a pickling company that stops food from reaching landfills instead of stomachs, and many more.

CEO, Ian Jackson, pitched Jackson Medical to a panel of experienced judges ranging from successful entrepreneurs to the CEO of Tucson Desert Angels.

In U.S. healthcare, between 700,000 and 1,000,000 people suffer a fall annually.

Falling within the hospital counts as a hospital-acquired condition. A fall injury could extend a patient's total time in the hospital. Current efforts include managing the patient's underlying fall risk factors and optimizing the hospital layout/design with more stabilizing features and less clutter.
