Do you spend too much time thinking about food, trying to figure out how to eat healthy, and getting stressed when you don’t eat healthy?

You aren’t alone. While yes, nutrition is an important part of our health, it shouldn’t take up so much of your life. It’s hard to remember this especially because food is such a constant in our lives: we eat every day and we use food to celebrate and connect with people. You can learn to create small, effective nutrition habits while not letting it consume your whole life. Just ask us how!

Be protective of your time and energy.

Just a little morning reminder for ya’ll 😘

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard clients say “there are times when I’m super healthy and workout and other times I eat really bad and don’t workout at all”

It’s easy to get stuck in that black and white thinking - especially when it comes to our health and food choices. But let me tell ya… there’s a space where we CAN enjoy our foods, move when it feels good, and still work on our health. That space is called balance.

Next time you catch yourself thinking that you need to workout all the time and only eat healthy foods, remember that life is not black and white.

Did you know that the body's main and preferred source of energy is carbohydrate? Avoiding or limiting carbs can come with unfavorable side effects. This can include symptoms such as feeling low energy, feeling out of control around carbohydrates, not having enough energy for physical activity or work tasks, and irregular digestion. If you are having these symptoms- this may be a sign that you are not eating enough carbohydrates for your body!

Many people are scared of eating carbohydrate-rich foods because of their past experiences with it. Sometimes we feel out of control around carbohydrate foods or we had previously tried a diet that recommended us to cut out carbs, which only lead us to feelings of shame when we do decide to eat them. Carbohydrates play a very important role in your health and are an integral part of a balanced diet.

It can be challenging to accept that we should eat carbohydrates, especially after years of diet culture telling us we shouldn’t be eating them. We tend to think of carbs as “bad” which causes us to feel guilty when we do eat them. The first step to incorporating carbohydrates in your diet is to let go of the judgement when you eat them. Give yourself permission to nourish your body with carbs.

If you have a fear of eating carbohydrates or would like to know how many carbs are right for your body, we recommend working with a registered dietitian (like us!)

Remember: All foods can be enjoyed in a balanced diet ✨
