The history between Wheeler O&P and goes back long before March 18, 1984, the day Chandler Regional Medical Center, then Chandler Community Hospital, opened its doors. The hospital’s first patient, 12-year-old Charles Wicks, was transferred to the hospital in the back of a rented moving truck as his balance suspension traction would not fit in the ambulance. The founder of our company, Bob Thielen, rode along with him. As captured by a local newspaperman, Bob even carried Charles’ pillows to ensure his comfort.

The picture says everything about who we are. We work quietly in the background, coming when no one else will, doing what no one else can, providing services of the highest quality and lowest cost. Our relationship with hospital administration, staff, and patients means everything to us. Our service shows it.

At Wheeler Orthotics and Prosthetics, we believe in the life-changing power of sport and an active lifestyle. That's why we're proud to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which has helped over 2,400 athletes say "YES" to their dreams.

In 2017 alone, they funded a record-breaking 2,448 grants across 97 different sports, proving that determination and the right support can help anyone achieve greatness.

Whether it's running, swimming, or cycling, we're here to ensure that every amputee—regardless of their physical challenges—has the opportunity to their limits and transform their lives.
