The Journey to a Better Me

The Journey to a Better Me Using art to heal as a Certified Peer Support, Recovery Coach and Group Facilitator. Art is a powerful tool. Art Saves Lives!

I am finishing my last class for Certified Recovery Coaching although I am a Certified Peer Support already. This new certification is more focused on groups and longer term peer support than just the typical crisis aversion peer support that is usually provided at the time of the crisis. A Recovery Coach actually stays with you on your journey providing that continuity that most people in recovery really need. I had a string of su***de attempts that started in 2014 -2019 after the death of my husband and my long slow downward spiral. I entered DBT Therapy and I began attending Behavioral Health Arts Program that changed my life forever. I am now a professional artist and Certified Peer Support, Recovery Coach and entreprenuer. I want to make a living helping others on their journey and provide continuity that doesn't really happen in behavioral health. Case managers change with the wind and peer supports fly in and out but a Coach is longer term for as long as you need. It is my hope that some group members will grow to be peer supports and coaches themselves expanding the benefits of the group to more and more people. I use Art to communicate healing techniques, coping skills and distress tolerance.

Loneliness can become overbearing and consume all your energy but the only way out of it is to stop isolating and stop having excuses for all the reasons you can't meet new people.

You have to go places alone and go to events and museums and do all the things you like to do and when your vibrations rise due to your happiness you will attract available people into your life. They will be drawn to you.

So the more lonely you are the more you should be out there doing things on your own and stop sitting in bed watching YouTube crying about how lonely you are.

I won't be responding immediately I will check my phone only a few times a day. I have set alexa to remind me. I hope you understand - I am concentrating on becoming the woman I was always meant to be!

Distractions can send me down a rabbit hole and I lose precious time I can't get back.

Neil gahman is a fantastic author his first book was amazing and so have all the following.

You have to believe in a little magic in your life and yes dragons exist and yes they can be beaten through tiny little attacks on a daily basis over a period of time. I don't need my app anymore to run me through my morning routine. I've got it down no matter what time I wake up or if it's a school day or not.

Even if I have a 7am flight to LA. I do my practice even if it takes me till 10 pm to get it all done, it gets done.

Sure Ive missed a couple days here and there and a couple tasks but only because I found something I was more committed to than my self care for the moment.

Putting my self care first above most everything else in the world has built confidence, helped me find my mojo, and made me a generally happier more fulfilled and complete person.

It's those days I miss when it really shows how important that time and commitment to yourself is. I love who I am Becoming! I'm changing everyday. Yet I am remaining strong and committed like never before and that commitment is to myself, for myself, about myself and done by myself but it affects everyone in my world..

I am becoming the woman I was always meant to be. A woman I have dreamt of for ages and never thought possible. I had too many dragons in my way. But they are dissipating slowly and steadily, one by one and I am totally okay with that. As this new woman emerges from within. I hope you get to meet her some day. She's pretty awesome, I think!

I didn't need some knight in rusted armor to come rescue me. I just needed to find myself, my inner being and start lining her up with the being you see.

I hope your journey is as exciting and joyful as you can handle and that you share that joy with those around you.

You will find you have more support than you ever thought you needed when you present yourself as someone committed to improving their own life and have the receipts to show for it.

You are not alone, there are millions of people out there just now becoming self aware and making changes and improvements and they are supportive and happy to see you on your journey and help however they can.

May you know Peace, Passion and Joy on your journey all the days of the year.

This was an awesome nightly coaching session! Rumi. Maya Angelou!! If you haven't tried fabulous yet dm me for a thirty day pass it's well worth the money. Best app out there for building new habits and slowly changing your ways to line up with your values and who you think you should be or who you aspire to be. It's really tiny steps nothing too overwhelming, something easily done in a few minutes until you start addingoee to your daily routines. You can set asany different routines as you like 1,2,3,5 times a day, different routines for work days and non work days and customizable habits just for your journey! You get rewarded for showing up but you never get judged for skipping a task or a day or a week. Just begin again. The Buddhists have a saying "Ho NIMH Yo" " From this moment on!". The past or how you got here is so totally irrelevant and requires noore of your time thoughts or energies only from this moment on are you responsible for and this one and this one too!

You can have successes each day when you are more mindful of your goals and habits and routines and to do lists. Each time you get a task accomplished in your daily routine you have the success of consistency and behaving in aanner that aligns with the person you intend to be. When you celebrate that success of brushing your teeth and taking a shower and practicing self care then you build momentum to push you through the harder tasks of the day, the deep work that needs doing to accomplish a big goal. Especially if your big goal requires a lot of time and redundancy and challenge to accomplish. Like hitting an exercise goal. It's hard it's repetitive, it can only be accomplished through tiny progress each day for many days in a row and if you don't have the self discipline and the success of completion to even get through your daily routine, how are you going to find the stamina to push through the hard work on your goals?

Look for the wins you have each and every day, you will build confidence, stamina, intrinsic motivation and self respect. That's how all those qualities are built. Some of us have honfeel we are lacking a desires quality so not even have the information about how those qualities are developed. We didn't learn it as children for whatever reason it doesn't even matter. What matters is that you are aware of areas in your life that you would like to experience differently and are willing to do the work to achieve that goal. That's a success right there. Most people have this intrinsic motivation and many don't and a lot of those who don't believe it's just something your born with and you can't change and that's not true. Change is not only possible it's inevitable so why wouldn't you be the tlone whochocces what that change is going to look like? Because everything changes all the time. It's life's only guarantee except bad habits, but they can be replaced with healthy ones.

Breaking down daunting tasks into little tiny tasks that can easily be accomplished I. 25 minutes is a great way to get those bagging todo tasks that have been on your list for months.

Be honest if you open up your diary from last year at this time some of those goals and tasks are still there. These create clutter and heaviness in our mind sucking the joy and the dopamine right out of you. Get a dopamine hit by accomplishing one tiny task on that to do list today. If it's a big cleaning job just say for the next 15 to 25 minutes I will pick up trash and throw it away. Or if it's a big writing job say I will write one page. You get the idea? If it's cleaning the garage say I will go through 1 box and put stuff where it belongs or put in goodwill pile in your car so your more likely to drop it off or take the trash bag out to the trash don't leave it sitting there.

Then you've a'complished a goal. You get a dopamine hit and your body wants more so it will be more likely to do another 15 minutes later on in the day. And within a few days you can get that task off your list, out of your mind and regain some freedom to focus on fun things again or you can come up with new goals.

Just remember to break it down to tiny steps that are totally doable without resistance and you will build momentum and it grows and grows until one day you reqliW you are a goals seiven person who accomplishes tasks with ease.

For the next few days, I will be working on my goal to Meaningful & Focused Work. Sign up to join me on the Fabulous! https://thefab.page.link/RMgdw
