You know what really bugs me?
When I hear people talk about how they want to change their treatment, but their doctor won't let them.
LET THEM?
Can we discuss autonomy in health?
I get it, I'm different. My approach to medicine is different. My approach to patients is different. My approach to almost everything is different from what many people get in healthcare.
So my *different* opinion is this.....my job as a physician is to help you make the best medical decision for your life and your health. It's not to tell you WHAT the best decision is.
Now, my expertise can help answer questions about effectiveness and safety and a variety of options....but my job is not to get mad at you because you want to do something different.
So I think bHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy) is one of the best and safest options for treating many quality of life symptoms associated with aging.
And if you try to take my hormone away from me personally, we are gonna fight (literally I will punch you in the throat).
But not every therapy is right for every patient.
So I work with people, ask questions, answer questions, and get to know what they are concerned about and will be consistent with and help them understand risks and benefits so that we can come to a decision together on what the best avenue is.
And even though my title is Doctor....and I have the exorbitant student loans to go along with it. I have come to learn in the past decade that the experience I offer patients is unlike any other doctor. And that will either make me a great fit for you or definitely not a great fit for you.
And I'm ok with that.
Happy Days, my friends.
