Prioritizing one's health is essential for overall well-being. During a recent hike up a mountain on New Year's Day 2026, I demonstrated to myself and others that age doesn't have to be a barrier to physical activity, as I kept up with much younger companions without strain. My aim in sharing this is to motivate others, not to boast. Health awareness started for me at 14, but the serious pursuit of it began in my late 30s. Every person, regardless of fitness level or age, can make incremental improvements, like short walks or adequate hydration. As 2026 unfolds, my commitment to health remains unwavering. Don’t stop learning

 Even though I know my anatomy and physiology and have been in my wellness practice for three decades, it’s always important to refresh and reset what we’ve learned in the past.  Sometimes I forget how much I have stored in my memory bank in regards to my healing practice modalities.
 Plus I take continuing education credits to keep my licensing.  I once took a class with a woman that was 85years old, even though she moved slow she had so much wisdom!

 Then when something new comes out, you realize you’ve learned this technique before you just had so many tools in your toolbox!

Especially the baby boomers or silver tsunami group it’s important that we always keep our mind active to learn something new in between growing of age !

Our After School Arts Program is not just a place for youth to experience the arts. It's much more than that. Our program takes place in a low-income housing complex, where many of the families are single parent households, working multiple jobs, or food insecure. Cultural Coalition also helps these families by providing a safe space for their children to come to when they get home from school.

They make friends with other kids in the building, learn from S.T.E.A.M. mentors in the areas of music and robotics, and create trusting relationships with our teaching artists who help them with their homework and provide daily encouragement and support for them creatively, academically, and emotionally.

According to a new report from the Wallace Foundation - Creative Expression, Caring Relationships, and Career Pathways: A Guide to Youth Outcomes in Community Arts Programs, they had two main take aways from youth who were part of their study.

1. Relational outcomes, which shape how arts program participants interact with peers and mentors and come to understand themselves, their community, and their environment. For example, nearly everyone interviewed said their participation in arts programs helped them build enduring friendships and grow as people.

2. Opportunity outcomes, which are the ways arts programs help young people envision adulthood and pursue careers. These include the development of workplace skills and exposure to cultural and educational resources that highlight potential careers and other opportunities for young people.

 Recently, the prices of essential oils have gone up and shipping increased!  Not to mention, packing supplies, bubble wrap envelopes, and the time to stand in line at the post office.

Making better food choices is essential to our health! You can lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol by removing fried foods and processed meals. It’s a start.

Today I decided I wanted to add flavor to my avocado toast and I got the wild idea to drizzle sesame seed oil. So good!

WALKING

Prevent or manage heart disease, high blood pressure, type two diabetes by walking. If you don’t have an indoor track at a nearby, GYM or Senior Center, march in place in a pace that’s good for you while watching TV.

Recently, my foot started to bother me and I couldn’t walk without pain. I came to the realization that I put a lot of mileage into my tires(shoes). When a part of your foot hurts or your leg, your body will change your gaite which affects your hips.

Invest in another pair of tennis shoes !Walking is important for our health. Even though my new Brooks were expensive the investment for my health is worth it. I feel like I’m walking on clouds now. No foot pain!

After decades of working with the Luna/Grandmother Moon, acknowledging her light her power, how her power can move emotions in all the seas and oceans of the world. Yes,  I believe all waters carry emotions, including our personal sacred bodies.

 The mystical moon has always brought a romantic feeling.  At times the moon can also be overwhelming, making us all very emotional. Most healers and spiritually mindful people do moon rituals or moon baths.

 In 2005 I wrote a full moon invocation (5th photo). In 2024, I became an author for my invocation in “REIKI Meditations, Invocations,&Prayers” By Ann Cabano.  I realize it’s time for me to do my own medicine and read my full moon invocation for at least three days during the full moon. Once again!

Hopefully, she will have mercy on me and bring me slumber tonight. I will soak in hot lavender and Epson salts read my invocation before my prayers.

 There are several reasons why so many people are having bad dreams,  and having trouble going to sleep. Especially with Global Susto( fear as a collective due to global uncertainty) However,  don’t give up. We need to keep doing everything we can to keep our sanity. Cover your bases  for your well-being; mind, body and spirit. If certain things don’t work well alternate, modify but keep trying. Don’t give up! You are your own healer. We’re all in this together.
