Peregrinos y sus letras has the vision of promoting the creative work of migrants living in the United States of America. It is the recognition of knowing we have migrated from different nations and we are grateful for what the USA has done for us. However, we wish to continue maintaining links with our culture, our language, our music etc. Peregrinos y sus letras recognizes that perhaps unwilling
ly we are creating a new culture, the culture of the immigrants, individuals that came by choice or mere causality and somehow these individuals have entered into main stream society. Years ago there was a stereotype of the migrant coming from south of the border. Today we have intellectuals, medical doctors, professors, writers, musicians, financial business experts; the American society has been enriched by the work and experiences of people who somehow ended in the United States of America. Our vision is to allow writers, musicians, painters and artists, to continue creating in their native tongue as well as in the English language, without imposing barriers that will eliminate past experiences that can create a new vision of the world. We have managed to dominate two cultures, two languages, two identities. The future has arrived and we need not only to maintain our traditions but we also need to be brave enough to move forward in the direction of new ways of expression in order to be able to continue the creating process which is at the heart of our vision.
