✨Did you know? ✨🍴Pediatric feeding disorder became an official diagnosis in October 2021. PFD is defined as “impaired oral intake that is not age appropriate and is associated with medical, nutritional, feeding skill, and/or psychological dysfunction”. (Feeding matters, 2021). 🌈✨ Building regulation starts with the body!

Take a peak at this fun activity in OT combining vestibular (movement) input from the swing with body awareness and balance work, helping the brain organize movement and stay grounded! While maintaining a stable posture, a clothespin transfer task was added to strengthen fine motor skills, dexterity, and bilateral coordination!

Each clothespin matched a Zones of Regulation color, giving a way to talk about emotions while getting sensory input at the same time. Connecting movement + motor skills + emotional awareness helps kids understand their bodies, identify body cues, and build the self-regulation! ❤️💛💚💙

Turning some turkeys into full-on sensory masterpieces this week in OT! 🦃🌈
