61 pounds down in less than 90 days and only gained 15 pounds of muscle weight back according to the body composition machine. I can't tell you how much easier it is to move around and do things with all the weight off! Imagine carrying around a 50 pound bag of dog food while you shop, drive, and play with your kids. Now put it down and play. You can't outrun your fork. Cut out the CARBs (also know as SUGAR) and the weight falls off. Now pick up and put down heavy things to build your toned skeletal muscle since that's what actually determines your metabolism. That right, toned bigger muscle equals faster metabolism! Oh, and did I mention Sugar makes you hungry 90 minutes later? Ever eat Chinese food and become hungry an hour later? The cause is the Sticky Rice. It's so highly processed that your body accesses all the energy in one massive glob. Up goes the glycemic index, out comes the insulin and it turns off using your fat for energy for up to 3 weeks! Bananas are not "Healthy". Just because something is natural or organic does not mean it's healthy. Things that don't skyrocket your blood sugar are healthy. Next time we'll talk about the DCCT study and how sugar and blood pressure affect you. Someone remind me to do that, okay?

Hi Everyone. I have Obesity but now live in a thinner body. I lost 61 pounds in 2012 with the help of my medical weight loss doctor. I learned about Nutrition, Calories vs Carbs, Physical Activity, safer eating Behaviors, Medication, and Accountability. It was just a few simple rules, a little medication for a couple weeks, then 3 months of rapid weight loss and a permanent new lifestyle that has worked for me for over 6 years. It might not work for everybody, but it has worked great for me. I avoid four types of foods like the plague: Grains, Starches, Dairy, and Fruit. Those are almost all sugar and I'm Carb-Sensitive. Quite honestly, after the first few months, I have not missed those things at all. Did you know that every 4 grams of Carbohydrates equals 1 Tsp of Sugar? The average human body only circulates 5 Tsp of sugar at any time. The medical recommendation is less than 50g of Carbs per day. The Government recommendation is less than 150g per day. The average American eats 450g per day! Your toned skeletal muscle determines your Metabolic Rate, so if you have a "Slow Metabolism", it's due to unused muscles. Since you might look me up, I will admit that I'm an Emergency Physician and got Board Certified in Obesity Medicine after losing all the weight and wanting to help other people do the same. I'm not advertising here. I have probably done so well because I talk to all my ER patients about nutrition and weight loss when they are interested in hearing about it. It's like going to weekly AA meetings: I'm constantly reinforcing my rules and being held accountable. If I fail, how can my patients believe my advice?

Remember how much fun you had camping and hiking and exploring the great outdoors? Now you can post your colors to the giant map of Scouting! I have been a Cub Scout and Boy Scout in Arizona as a child. I earned both the Arrow of Light as a Cub and the Eagle Scout as a young man. I have been a Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster for Scouts in Arizona for the past 8 years as an adult.

I was on TV!

I'm going to be doing a 5 minute segment about weight loss on "Arizona Midday" on NBC channel 12 Friday at 1pm. I don't know what part of the show, but it's during that hour. It will replay on Saturday but I don't know what time. Set your recorders!

Jimmy started this journey by allowing me to introduce a little tube down his nose into his stomach and connected to a pump with healthy medium chain triglyceride oil, whey isolate protein, and a mix of healthy amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. did you see his posts? He started at 379.4 pounds and is down to 358.6 pounds at the beginning to day 8 on his scale at home. These changes will be permanent if he continues to eat a HEALTHY diet that is lower in carbohydrates, not the American Diet that is high in carbohydrates - 4 times higher than what even the US government recommends. Carbohydrate is the politically correct term for Sugar. 4 grams of carbohydrates = 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stay tune to see how this ends!

What? Is it healthy? Seriously, read his blogs. He said that in just the first 3 days, his knee pain completely disappeared and he has more energy than he's had in years - all while losing weight at an astronomical rate. Jimmy Davenport is Kong! Hip, Hip, Hurray! for the Boy Scouts and their parade float! They've gone and won another award - this time from the Fiesta Bowl Parade!

You know the Boy Scout Oath says they will Stay Physically Fit, Mentally Awake, and Morally Straight. Huh. It sounds like they should all be following the Phoenix Weight Loss Lifestyle, right??? It keeps you physically fit and mentally awake! (For morally straight, you're on your own!!!)
