Happy Sunday!

Loving-kindness truly makes the world go round! There’s something special about being kind to all living things. Think about how much our plants and gardens thrive when we nurture them with loving care. Small acts of kindness may seem simple, but they can have a lasting impact.

When we take the opportunity to show kindness, especially when it’s not easy or directed toward someone we’re not close to, it becomes a powerful gesture. If the thought of being kind crosses your mind, it's probably a sign that it's your responsibility to help spread kindness throughout the world.

It can sometimes feel like the same people are always giving, while others are ready to receive. But the good news is, we don’t need to worry about that! All we need to focus on is continuing to offer our own beautiful acts of kindness while also accepting others as they are. This ensures we maintain the energy to keep giving. And when we’re low on energy, we can always offer a prayer or send positive thoughts to those who need them, while recharging our own spirits.

Blessings,

Kary Sinkule, CEO & Founder of Yoga's Arc

Strike a Pose!

"Garudasana" in Sanskrit or more commonly known as, "Eagle Pose". The ringing out. Squeezing together while breathing creates tension to release tension. This pose has a lot going on! The great news is we can access this pose sitting at our desks, balancing in a yoga practice, or laying on our mats.

One of the benefits of crossing our elbows and knees is to build strength isometrically while opening our hips, back, and joints that we are squeezing. (It is optional to hook the wrists and lace fingers along with hooking the foot, make sure that you try this under the supervision of a yoga teacher if you haven't tried this before, reach out for support if you need us!)

This can be practiced in a chair, laying down and on one foot for the extra balance challenge. Whichever way we choose to "Eagle", make sure you are breathing and enjoying the stretch!

Do you have a passion for serving others and a desire to deepen your yoga practice?

Join one of our Yoga Teacher Training Programs! Our classes are starting soon, and we're ready to help you take the next step on your journey.

Meet the Behind the Scenes Staff!

Meet Aubrey Jones! Since joining us as Marketing Assistant last year, Aubrey has provided unfailing support to our marketing department. Her fresh perspective and remarkable ability to see the big picture have been invaluable. We're also thrilled to announce that she will complete her 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training with us in November. Her dedication to her own growth as a teacher reflects the same passion she brings to her work behind the scenes.

Here’s a little bit about Aubrey…

Aubrey’s first experience with yoga was through a cable TV program over 20 years ago. She practiced early in the morning in her tiny living room before her small children woke up. At the time, she could barely reach past her knees in a forward fold and found sitting cross-legged uncomfortable. Yet, she kept returning to the class.

Over the years, Aubrey continued practicing yoga while raising four young kids as a stay-at-home mom. She cherished the moments of respite yoga provided. As she became more flexible, she began attending classes at a local studio, where she initially felt uncomfortable because she wasn’t “good at yoga.” However, her determination kept her going. Though she didn’t initially feel skilled, the positive feeling after each class was enough to keep her coming back. Over time, she developed a deep appreciation for the physical strength, balance, and inner peace yoga offers.

Aubrey is passionate about health and wellness. With a degree in Human Biology, she is a scientist, a medical intuitive with nearly 10 years of experience, and a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor. She excels at identifying challenges for her clients and providing effective solutions. Aubrey is married, has four children, and a dog, and has lived in the Phoenix area for 25 years.

"Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.” - Leonardo da Vinci

When we take time to practice self-awareness and reflection, it requires time in quiet and stillness. We learn things about ourselves that we wouldn't recognize in a busy and loud world filled with information and opinions. We can be part of the solution by realizing through self-awareness that we are all connected and we should treat everything as such.

Strike a Pose!!

This week, we're diving into Dancer Pose (Natarajasana) with a powerful tool: the yoga strap. Using a strap can be very helpful for working on balance, increasing flexibility, or simply exploring the pose.

1. Limited Flexibility: If you have limited flexibility in your shoulders or hamstrings, a strap can assist in reaching and holding your foot, allowing you to gradually improve your flexibility over time.

2. Balance Issues: For beginners or those working on their balance, a strap can provide stability by allowing you to hold onto it while focusing on your balance and alignment.

3. Injury or Recovery: If you are recovering from an injury or have any physical limitations, a strap can help you safely practice Dancer Pose without straining or overstretching your muscles.

4. Alignment and Form: A strap can also be used as a tool to help you maintain proper alignment during the pose, ensuring that your body is positioned correctly to prevent injury and maximize the benefits of the pose.

Whether you're looking to deepen your personal practice or embark on a new career, we're here to support you. Yoga's Arc offers comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training programs designed to meet you exactly where you are.

Meet the Teacher!

We want to give a warm welcome to Sarah Di Stefano, a dedicated member of our Yoga's Arc community! After completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through Yoga's Arc, she is now taking her practice to the next level. As she nears completion of her 300-hour program, her journey is a true testament to her commitment to personal growth, and we are so proud to have her sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with our students.

Here’s a little bit about Sarah…

Have you thought of compassion as a practice, much like gratitude?

Compassion takes practice. It’s easy to get wrapped up in our own views and perspectives, forgetting what it’s like to put ourselves in others' shoes before responding. We can choose to respond with avoidance or judgment, or we can respond with compassion.

This doesn’t mean we allow ourselves to be walked on or put ourselves in compromising situations. However, when we have the opportunity to teach, lead, guide, and influence, compassion serves as a powerful model for all of the above. I can understand why Judith Hanson Lasater feels this way about compassion, as expressed in her quote below:

"The more we practice compassion, the more space it finds within us to live a life of compassion automatically."

Share the gift of compassion—it will be contagious!

"I don't think we find compassion. I think we become the space that compassion wants to live in." — Judith Hanson Lasater

Strike a Pose: Child's Pose!

Child's Pose (Balasana) is a simple, yet powerful way to find grounding and peace.

This resting posture folds your body forward, giving you an immediate sense of calm and a chance to reset.

Why take a moment in Child's Pose?

Find relief: Gently stretches your spine, hips, and thighs to release tension in your lower back and neck.

Ease your mind: Reduces stress and anxiety by encouraging deep, mindful breathing and stillness.

Improve digestion: The gentle compression on your abdomen can help with bloating and digestion.

Rest & reset: It's the perfect pause in any practice to reconnect with your breath and body.

Take a few moments to embrace this pose and let go. Your mind and body will thank you.

Ready to go deeper into your practice?

Yoga’s Arc

We were born out of a passion for outreach. After practicing yoga for the last 20 years, Kary Sinkule began wondering how she could bring yoga to those who need it most- the overworked, the unable, and the under-served. To reach these people, convenience was the name of the game. The movement had to be fueled by flexibility and a willingness to join people in every step of the journey. So we thought outside the four walls of our studio and created Yoga's Arc.

A year later, we're even more energized to keep changing the mindset of what yoga can look like. To us, yoga looks like coworkers sharing in morning rejuvenation. Yoga looks like a healing breakthrough for a stroke survivor in her own living room. Yoga looks exactly how you envision it. With more than 20 instructors across the Valley, we're growing fast, and we're excited to meet you wherever you are in your yoga journey.
