Just how bad is COVID right now in January of 2024?

Well, it depends a little on your point of view and what statistics you are able to find--because COVID statistics are not that easy to find these days since the CDC has lowered its reporting requirements. If you believe that there should be no deaths in the United States because there are vaccination and Paxlovid, then I am pretty sure you will be disappointed to know that there are about 70,000 deaths from COVID this year in the United States, this is about 191 per day. This number is approximately twice the number of people who die from the flu in the United States during a bad flu year. About 40,000 people or 110 people per day die from the flu during a bad flu year. This looks pretty bad. However, if you can remember back to February of 2021 there could be as many as 3,000 people dying on a single day from COVID, and the average daily amount was about 1,000 people per day. Given this huge difference, how do you think the United States is really fairing when it comes to COVID?
