Family Involvement Center is a not-for-profit, family-run organization that was founded by Jane Kallal in 2001. The majority of our employees and Board of Directors have personal life experience raising children with emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health challenges.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month is not only about raising awareness—it’s about coming together to take meaningful action. That can look like having open conversations, learning how to support someone you care about, or seeking out community resources. Every action, big or small, plays a part in creating lasting change.

We are so proud to celebrate our very first Nurturing Fathers graduating class of the year! 🎓

Over the last 13 weeks, these dedicated dads showed up, put in the work, and supported each other in their journey of personal growth, fatherhood, and connection. This weekend, they crossed the finish line and celebrated their graduation with a heartfelt ceremony at Granada Park, complete with certificates and a good ol’ fashioned BBQ.

Here's to stronger families, present fathers, and a community that uplifts one another. Congratulations, gentlemen — you did it!

Arizona Gives Day is an opportunity to be part of real change—and stories like Kristy’s show just how much your support matters.

After navigating difficult challenges with DCS involvement, Kristy was unsure of what came next. That changed when she connected with the Family Involvement Center (FIC). With guidance from peers who had walked a similar path, she uncovered strengths she didn’t know she had—and found a deeper sense of purpose.

What she once felt ashamed of became a powerful source of connection and hope.

Now, through FIC’s Parents for Parents program and the Resilient Roots Apprenticeship Program (RRAP), Kristy walks alongside other parents facing similar struggles—helping them heal, grow, and rediscover what’s possible.

This week, our DadTogether and Mending Fences teams joined the Freedom Men’s Prison Re-Entry Resource Fair, connecting formerly incarcerated men with jobs, training, legal aid, and community support.

We’re here to help fathers rebuild their lives, strengthen family bonds, and create a fresh start. Every dad deserves a second chance, and every child deserves an engaged father. 💙

Jessie Streeter and Andrew Fortriede were out at Tillman Middle School, connecting with dads through the DadTogether Program—a powerful initiative designed to uplift, support, and equip fathers with the resources they need to be the best dads they can be! 🙌

Fatherhood isn’t always easy, but no dad has to do it alone. 💪 Through community, education, and encouragement, DadTogether is making a real impact, helping fathers build stronger relationships with their children and families.

Honoring Bebe Moore Campbell: A Mental Health Advocate & Trailblazer

Bebe Moore Campbell was a powerful force in reshaping mental health care for communities facing unique challenges. As an author and advocate, she used storytelling to amplify voices that had long gone unheard. Through her work in national media, she courageously addressed the stigma surrounding mental health, particularly in Black communities.

Her impact was so profound that the U.S. Congress designated July as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in her honor.

At Family Involvement Center we recognize and celebrate Ms. Campbell’s legacy and her dedication to making mental health care accessible to all.

We had a special guest visit this week—Santa himself! Our amazing Staff and Board Members got into the holiday spirit and shared some unforgettable moments with the big guy in red.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season and bring a little holiday cheer to everyone here. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful holiday season.

This holiday season, we are deeply grateful to Jeanine Bashir, Founder and CEO and Leslie Atkins, Board Member of Harriet’s House for their thoughtful generosity.

Thanks to them, mothers at Family Involvement Center received special red envelopes with a beautiful heartfelt message and a gift card to do something special for themselves and beautiful coloring books (created by a talented friend of theirs).

These heartfelt gifts are a meaningful way to honor the incredible sacrifices these mother’ make for their families and to encourage them to embrace self-care.
