We had an incredible session for our Vertical Climb Training with a stunning drone view of the partially cleared Dover Forest at sunset. 🌳✨

Unfortunately, about two-thirds of Dover Forest has been cleared for the construction of new BTO flats, leaving only one-third of Dover Forest West intact. It’s bittersweet to witness this change in our beloved green space.

A huge shoutout to Ayu for bringing those delicious brownies—definitely a sweet treat after our climb! 😋 And let’s give a round of applause to Samy, who impressively completed 8 ascents at Level 38 in just 1.5 hours—what a superhero climber! 🤩💪

Thanks to everyone who joined us: Derrick, William, Samy, Ayu, Janet, Channy, Irene, Zheng Jie, and Chin. Here’s to more climbing adventures together!

Last-Minute Hike to Bukit Timah Hill — Exploring the Devil Steps, Cave Path, and Hindhede Quarry 🏞️🌿

Had an amazing spontaneous adventure with Channy, Ayu, and Peg at Bukit Timah Hill, Singapore’s highest natural point at 163.63m! It was the ladies’ first time conquering this iconic spot, and we made sure to visit the hidden gems along the way.

🕵️‍♀️ What We Explored:

Devil Steps — Steep and thrilling, a must-try challenge for every hiker!

Cave Path — Inspected the two remaining caves. Did you know there used to be 3? One collapsed. There is also a small waterfall & Chinese tomb here. We saw the Tree Maintenance team in action!

Hindhede Quarry — A serene and scenic spot that’s perfect for taking a breather and enjoying the view.

It’s always exciting to explore lesser-known trails and share these experiences with new hikers. 🥾✨

📍 Bukit Timah Hill Highlights:

1️⃣ Highest Natural Peak in Singapore
2️⃣ Steep Climbs & Unique Cave Trails
3️⃣ Scenic Hindhede Quarry

We had an amazing turnout of 13 participants for our Vertical Climb Training, despite the foggy sunset at the Level 47 Skypark! The recent rainy and foggy days have certainly added a mystical touch to our climbs. Despite the weather, the camaraderie and energy were high! 💪🌇

The MRT ride between Buona Vista and Queenstown was free, although it was quite crowded. Trains between Buona Vista and Jurong MRT stations are still down due to major repairs. 🛠️💯

Had a fascinating hike at Bukit Brown Cemetery, a place I hadn’t visited in a long time, and I realized how much I’ve missed it! This time, I was lucky to meet up with two friends who are Bukit Brown experts:

- Hills 1 & 3 Walk with Darren

- Secret Garden Exploration & Lunch with Ah Beng

During the hike with Darren, we explored the tombstone of a lady whose sons were involved in uprisings against the Qing Empire, and the tomb of a man who played a role in bringing the British into the Sultanate of Selangor. We also heard tales about a TCM doctor who had the most famous pair of Sikh guards. Darren shared stories of a brave man buried alongside three women, two of whom were his mothers-in-law!

The hike ended near the grand Ong Sam Leong 王三龙 tomb, the largest in Bukit Brown, with its majestic stone lions, intricate carvings, and opulent design.

Afterward, I visited Ah Beng’s Secret Garden, where he demonstrated grafting techniques and showed me his trees with multicolored hibiscus flowers and even different mango varieties growing on a single tree is possible! Lunch was a unique porridge with jackfruit plant, meat and curry, cooked on-site. What an amazing day! 🤩🥰

Although I won’t be sharing a map for this hike in respect to the privacy of the residents of the Secret Garden, I highly recommend joining Darren’s free guided tours through Peatix to explore the rich heritage of Bukit Brown Cemetery.

Interesting notes:

Sikh guard order - "Guard the Residence", Sikh guard order - "Patrol the City"

Bukit Brown MRT Station (CC18), nestled between Botanic Gardens (CC19) and Caldecott (CC17), lies beneath the historic Bukit Brown Cemetery. This underground station is currently closed to the public due to ongoing redevelopment plans for the surrounding area.

I took on the Frasers Tower's Vertical Challenge 2024 Singapore Championship and completed 235m vertical climb, equivalent to scaling 83 HDB stories in one go! 🤯 This Tower has 4 flights of stairs per floor, with only 39 floors to conquer! 🏃‍♂️

The top 6 spots in both male and female categories were taken by overseas athletes from Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and India. 🌎 To win, you needed to finish in under 10 minutes - the fastest timing was an incredible 5 minutes 36 seconds! ⏱️

Frasers Tower is an exclusive 38-storey 235m Premium Grade A office development in Singapore's Central Business District.

Our regular training location SkyVille @ Dawson, is a 47-storey HDB project that stands tall at 148m. 🏙️

This event was a special replacement for our weekly Vertical Climb Training and a real eye-opener. 🤩

SkyVille @ Dawson: Vertical Climb Training with a Foggy Sunset View.

Our small group of climbers gathered for our regular Vertical Climb Training 🏙️💪 We tackled the climb to Level 47 not once, but three times up and one time down. The foggy sky during sunset added a surreal touch to the breathtaking views!

These climbs are the perfect way to build endurance and enjoy some incredible cityscapes.

Jog up the old Kent Ridge Road, explore Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), and lunch there.

That early morning sat the black cat caught and ate a small mouse - the gross parts removed. The regular "Cat Feeder" did not turn up to feed the cat! 😅🙏
