The BreastCareVest was developed by Pongratz Orthotics & Prosthetics in collaboration with surgeons and hospital nursing staff for
the post-operative care, support/stabilization, compression and management of thoracic surgical sites secondary to post-mastectomy surgeries, post-tissue expander insertion, and post-breast reduction surgery. Although used in all applications of post-operative care, the BreastCareVest is ideal for the larger or obese patient with excessive tissue that stretches or pulls the suture site while the post-operative patient is lying supine. Foam breast forms are placed over the surgical area to increase contact of the dressings to reduce edema. The breast forms also restore symmetry allowing a balanced appearance and providing a positive self- image. Hospital staff and physicians prefer BreastCareVest due to its superior post-operative care features. This exclusively provided BreastCareVest features latex free breathable woven blend of Nylon and Spandex fabric with front closing zipper, 2 adjustable Velcro shoulder strap closures, 4 anterior panels/pockets to hold drain tubes or portable pain pump, 2 reinforced holes for exiting drain tubes, hook and eye closer for easier donning and foam breast forms to increase suture line dressing contact and improve patient’s self-image.
