☠️Negative effects of alcohol: what most people don’t see

Alcohol isn’t just “empty calories.” It raises the risk of at least seven cancers (including breast and colorectal), damages the liver and heart, disrupts sleep (especially REM), weakens immunity, and can worsen anxiety and depression. Reducing or quitting lowers these risks at any age.

Key health risks:
• Cancer risk increases with any alcoholic drink (beer, wine, liquor).
• Liver, heart, brain, gut, and immune system are all affected by ongoing alcohol use.
• Sleep quality drops—alcohol suppresses REM sleep and fragments rest.
• Contributes to >200 health conditions and a large share of preventable deaths each year.
