Founded in 1990 as Phoenix Body Positive and later known as the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS, Prisma Community Care was established by and for individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, including their families and partners. The organization eventually began doing business as the Southwest Center before adopting its current name, Prisma Community Care, on January 1, 2025.

Big news: Thanks to a generous $5,000 grant from Kroger and Fry’s Food Stores, Prisma’s Ryan White Nutrition Program can continue delivering life-saving support to our community members living with HIV. From food vouchers to protein powder and one-on-one counseling with dietitians, this program improves immune function, health outcomes, and hope.
With recent federal funding cuts, community support like this is everything. 💚

📞 Starting July 17, the 988 “Press 3” LGBTQ+ option is being removed.
This dedicated lifeline has been a compassionate beacon for more than 1.3 million LGBTQ+ youth in crisis.

At Prisma, we know losing specialized attention has consequences. But we also believe in the power of community and creativity to fill these spaces.

🌈 Here’s our hopeful plan:
1️⃣ Team up with community-based organizations to expand mental health support
2️⃣ Boost peer-led & affirming hotlines like The Trevor Project and Trans Lifeline
3️⃣ Amplify voices demanding that lawmakers protect these essential services

56 years ago, the patrons of the Stonewall Inn turned bricks into a bullhorn, pushing back against oppression and pushing all of us toward liberation.
The June 28, 1969, uprising ignited modern LGBTQ+ liberation, proving that when community fights back, progress follows.

📚 Fast-forward to 2025: from banned books to barriers at the clinic door, efforts to shrink access to essential care still won’t quiet our community.

At Prisma, every letter in 2SLGBTQIA+ matters.

Healthcare is only “affirming” if it affirms everyone. Whether you need PrEP, primary care, or a quick dose of q***r joy, our doors stay open.

Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS is the largest clinical, education, behavioral health, prevention and nutrition support center dedicated to fighting HIV and AIDS in the Southwestern United States.
