C. MELANOMA – Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) does NOT help with melanoma.�If you are concerned you may have melanoma, schedule a skin check with your dermatologist ASAP. Time is extremely important when it comes to melanoma and early detection saves lives.

About the other options…

A. ACNE – TCA has been widely studied in the context of acne and chemical peels have been shown to help reduce acne by exfoliating dead skin cells, clearing clogged pores, and decreasing oil buildup. TCA also helps reduce post-acne inflammation and can improve acne scarring by promoting skin cell turnover and collagen production.

B. FINE LINES – TCA works by creating controlled exfoliation of the skin, which stimulates collagen production and skin regeneration. Studies on chemical peels show that TCA can improve fine lines and overall skin texture by encouraging new, healthier skin cells to form and strengthening the skin’s structure over time.

D. DARK SPOTS – TCA is commonly used to treat hyperpigmentation and dark spots because it accelerates skin cell turnover and helps break up excess melanin in the skin. • Bachelor’s degree
• Medical school
• A dermatology residence program

On top of that, to remain board-certified, they have to participate in continuous eucation, self-assessment and periodic recertification exams every 10 years.
