Feeling a little off lately? It may be your hormones.

Progesterone is a key hormone that helps regulate your menstrual cycle, supports sleep, and plays an important role in overall hormonal balance. When levels are low, it can impact how you feel day to day.

Some common signs of low progesterone may include:
• Irregular or shortened cycles
• Spotting between periods
• Trouble sleeping
• Mood changes or increased anxiety
• PMS symptoms
• Difficulty conceiving

Hormonal changes can happen for many reasons, including stress, age, or underlying conditions. The good news is there are ways to evaluate your symptoms and create a plan that supports your health and helps you feel more like yourself again.

If any of these symptoms sound familiar, it may be time to talk with your OBGYN provider.

What is an ultrasound?

An ultrasound is a safe, noninvasive tool that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of your baby in the womb. The sound waves bounce off tissues and organs to produce real-time pictures of your baby’s growth and development.

The machine creates the image (ultrasound), and the picture you see is often called a sonogram. Unlike X-rays, ultrasounds do not use radiation, making them a safe and essential part of pregnancy care.

Ultrasounds allow your OBGYN to:
✨ Monitor your baby’s growth and development
✨ Check on the health of the pregnancy
✨ Evaluate soft tissues, organs, and blood flow
✨ Determine if any additional testing is needed

They are an important way we gather information to support both you and your baby throughout pregnancy. 💕

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, your New Horizons Women’s Care provider is here to guide you every step of the way.

How do you know if your PMS symptoms are normal?

PMS is commonly associated with emotional and physical changes in the one to two weeks leading up to your period. This may include irritability, mood swings, anxiety, or feelings of sadness.

For many women, these symptoms improve once their period begins. If your symptoms feel severe, interfere with your daily life, or continue beyond your cycle, it may be a sign that something more is going on.

You deserve to feel supported and understood, not dismissed.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we are here to help you navigate every stage of life with compassionate, personalized care.

What is an Anterior Placenta?

An anterior placenta is located in front of your uterus, close to the abdomen. Anterior placentas are like a cushion between your baby and your belly. This temporary organ has lots of functions, including providing oxygen and nourishment to your growing baby through the umbilical cord, and taking waste away from them.

The placenta can attach to the uterine wall in many different locations. If it's in front of the uterus, close to the abdomen, it's known as an anterior placenta. An anterior placenta won't change the shape of your pregnant belly, and it won't make your bump bigger. "An anterior placenta will usually cause no pregnancy or health complications", says Monte Swarup, M.D., FACOG.

Anterior placentas are common, and occur in about 50% of pregnancies. They don't pose increased risk to the pregnant person or baby-though the placenta position might make harder to detect your baby's kicks and heartbeat.

When was the last time you had a mammogram?

For most women, screening mammograms are recommended starting at age 40 and continuing every year. If you are under 40, it is still important to talk with your provider, as some women may need earlier screening based on personal or family history.

Prioritizing routine screenings is one of the most important steps you can take for early detection and long term health.

Make your health a priority this season and get your mammogram on the calendar. 💕
