🏋 Exercise isn’t supposed to feel impossible.

For many patients with hEDS (hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), reduced exercise tolerance is not about motivation or conditioning. It’s linked to fatigue, pain, and autonomic dysfunction, including POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).

When your body responds differently to activity, the approach has to be different too.

If this resonates with you, you’re not imagining it.

😮‍💨 Shortness of breath after COVID-19? It might be more than you think. This symptom, called Dyspnea, is one of the most common signs of Post–COVID-19 POTS.

The tricky part? 🌀 Many people with Long COVID show normal results on routine tests like blood work, EKG, or scans, yet still struggle daily with symptoms.

🔬 Specialized testing often reveals the truth:
❤️ Abnormal heart rate & blood pressure shifts
🩸 Blood flow regulation issues
🏃‍♀️ Problems with oxygen utilization during exercise testing
🌡️ Immune or mast cell dysfunction

📚 Recent studies confirm these hidden changes in patients with Long COVID.

✨ Have you experienced these symptoms? Drop a 😮‍💨 if you can relate, or a 🔎 if you’ve ever had advanced testing done.

💙 Have you heard of Dysautonomia? 👂
(dis·oughta·know·me·uh)

Dysautonomia is not just one condition, it's an umbrella term for conditions that affect the autonomic nervous system. The ANS controls things you don’t even have to think about: 💓 heartbeat, 🌬 breathing, 🧠 digestion, and more.

When it malfunctions, the body struggles to regulate these automatic functions, leaving millions living with invisible but life-altering symptoms.

POTS is NOT caused by anxiety. It is caused by a malfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). The ANS controls involuntary body functions like heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, digestion, body and skin temperature, hormonal function, bladder function, and more.

Diagnosis isn’t the finish line.
It’s the starting point.

No two patients are the same, and treatment isn’t always a straight path. What works, what changes, and how your body responds can evolve over time.

At the Center for Complex Neurology, EDS & POTS, care is built around ongoing evaluation, treatment adjustments, and understanding how symptoms change over time, especially for conditions like POTS, EDS, dysautonomia, MCAS, and related disorders.

That’s why follow-up care is so important. Ongoing visits allow for adjustments, deeper understanding of your symptoms, and a treatment plan that adapts with you.

Follow-up appointments may be available sooner depending on appointment type and provider availability.

✨ Cranial Cervical Instability (CCI) happens when the ligaments supporting your head and neck weaken or get damaged, causing everything from chronic headaches and neck pain to vertigo and even cognitive challenges. 🧠💫 Often linked to conditions like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, trauma, or spine changes, CCI can be treated with physical therapy, medication, or in severe cases, surgery.

🩺 Dr. Saperstein has over 20 years of experience diagnosing and treating CCI, using medical imaging to find the best approach for each patient.

Why do small injuries lead to abnormal scars? 🤔

In Classical EDS, collagen structure is impaired, which weakens the skin.
That means skin is more fragile and doesn’t heal the way it should.

Instead of fading normally, scars can become thin, stretched, and widened over time.

It’s not the size of the injury, it’s how the skin repairs.

Did you notice your scars healed differently? 👇

💙 Dysautonomia After COVID 💙

Doctors are seeing more and more patients develop dysautonomia after recovering from COVID.
For many, this looks like POTS-like symptoms; dizziness, rapid heart rate, and fatigue that can last months or even years.

This is real. This is happening. And it deserves awareness.

💡 Presyncope is not “just dizziness.”

✨ In Dysautonomia, presyncope happens when the autonomic nervous system doesn’t properly regulate heart rate, blood pressure, and blood flow, especially when upright. This leads to reduced blood flow to the brain, causing symptoms without full loss of consciousness.

🔷 Presyncope and syncope exist on the same spectrum.
🔷 Presyncope is the near-faint stage; syncope is when fainting occurs.

Many people with dysautonomia experience presyncope daily, and far more often than fainting. Because there’s no visible loss of consciousness, it’s frequently misunderstood, minimized, or dismissed, even though it can be profoundly disabling.

If this describes your experience, you’re not alone and it’s not in your head.

Center for Complex Neurology

We provide expert diagnosis and treatment of selected diseases, to include ALS, CIDP, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, (EDS), GBS, Neuropathy, Myositis, Muscular Dystrophy, Myasthenia Gravis, POTS & other dysautonomias. Dr. Saperstein has over 20 years of experience diagnosing, treating and researching these conditions.

Why did I create the Center for Complex Neurology?

Over the last 22 years I have been practicing medicine I have done so in a variety of settings: on staff at a university medical center, in private practice, as part of a health care system, and even in the U.S. military (Air Force). Each system had it pluses and minuses. But all forms of medical practice have come under strain in recent years from unprecedented changes in the health care system.
