🎥 Every voice deserves to be heard.

Too many young people struggle with their mental health in silence. Through Voice of Hope: Ending the Silence for Our Youth, we are sharing powerful stories from youth who are courageously speaking up.

Their voices remind us that hope begins when someone listens.

Hear from Isabella DeBlasi, our first Voice of Hope on what she wishes adults knew about mental illness.

💚 Your support of NAMI Valley of the Sun’s 10th Annual Giving Breakfast helps bring mental health education, support groups, and life-changing resources to youth and families across our community.

✨ Help us amplify youth voices. Donate today.

Anxiety isn’t “just worrying.”
It’s shaky hands. Racing thoughts. Tight chest. Negative self-talk. Cancelling plans. Smiling on the outside while everything feels loud on the inside.

If this feels familiar, you’re not dramatic. You’re not weak. You’re not alone. 💚

Let’s normalize talking about mental health — and remind each other that support is strength.

Mental Health Advocates,

We need your voice. Please join other mental health advocates and us!

HB2093, sponsored by Representative Fink, would repeal the requirement that mental health instruction be included in Arizona school health curricula.

This bill has already passed the House Education Committee and cleared the House Rules Committee. It is now positioned to move to the full House floor for debate and a vote.

Mental health education in schools is critical.

Early education helps students recognize warning signs, reduces stigma, encourages help-seeking, and supports su***de prevention efforts. With youth mental health challenges on the rise, removing this requirement sends the wrong message at the wrong time.

📣 TAKE ACTION TODAY
Please contact your State House Representatives and urge them to vote NO on HB2093.

You can find your legislators here:
https://www.azleg.gov/findmylegislator/

Suggested message:
“I am asking you to oppose HB2093. Mental health instruction in schools is essential for early intervention, su***de prevention, and student well-being. Please vote NO on this bill.”

We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the members of the House Education Committee who voted against HB2093:

• Representative Garcia, bgarcia@azleg.gov, (602) 926-3329
• Representative Gutierrez - ngutierrez@azleg.gov, (602) 926-4134
• Representative Hernandez L. - lhernandez@azleg.gov, (602) 926-3553
• Representative Simacek - ssimacek@azleg.gov, (602) 926-3083
• Representative Stahl Hamilton - sstahlhamilton@azleg.gov, 602-926-3279

Please consider thanking them for standing up for youth mental health.

Your advocacy makes a difference. When legislators hear directly from constituents, it matters.

Thank you for standing with NAMI and for supporting mental health education in Arizona schools.

Sincerely,

Kristina Sabetta, LMSW

Kristina Sabetta, Executive Director of NAMI Valley of the Sun, was honored to attend the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Advocacy Day at the State Capitol. 🏛️💙

This powerful day brought together passionate volunteers committed to advancing state policies that prevent su***de and strengthen mental health support across Arizona. Advocates learned the fundamentals of effective advocacy, explored AFSP’s priority policy issues, and practiced delivering meaningful “asks” to inspire real action.

Together, they met with state officials to:
• Share why su***de prevention matters to them and their communities
• Highlight the work being done locally to save lives
• Offer AFSP as a leading resource in su***de prevention
• Urge lawmakers to take action in support of critical policy priorities

When we raise our voices together, we create change. 💬✨ ***dePrevention
