I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser 🤷🏼♀️ (iykyk)
Thank you for all the birthday wishes this weekend! I had a marvelous time at The Eras Tour + am so grateful to have had such a memorable celebration!
I’ve been a fan since 2006 so it felt especially special to go through her Eras + remember the Eras of my own life on my birthday.
When I had the brain injury + went blind in one eye nearly five years ago, I didn’t know if I’d ever go to a concert again. Even “normal” socialization—like sitting at a coffee shop or listening to music in the car—caused debilitating nausea + migraines from stimuli like light, sound + movement.
In that time, I was isolated from everyone + felt like an alien in my own body. Movement of any kind made me dizzy, nauseous, unbalanced. Listening to music was torture. Watching TV made me physically sick. For this former musical theater kid, I couldn’t imagine a life without music yet I was stuck in this experience. Fortunately with time + lots of treatments I made progress, yet it took about two years before I could listen to music without triggering a migraine…and that’s when 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘬𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘦 came out. It was the perfect album to escape reality + embrace the fantasy of what 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 be—and felt soothing to my brain.
And I think that’s what’s so special about music + other performing arts: they allow us to dream, to imagine, to create, and to connect.
I could go on + on about why TS’ music is so important to me, but for now I’ll just say “thank you” for allowing me to share about something I love.
An extra huge “thank you” to all the people who make the magic happen for nights like this: the band, the dancers, and the Starlights (singers) are all incredibly talented + brought so much joy; the crew, event staff, food + beverage handlers made everything go smoothly; and the security kept us all safe.
Extra shoutout to the lady who took this photo for me 🫶🏼 and for all the gals in section A13 who screamed their hearts out, showered each other in glitter + exchanged friendship bracelets. I was enchanted to meet you!
