Lorna Tan has always believed in supporting causes that make a positive impact. As Clinical Resource Leader in the Operating Room at Valleywise Health, she sees every day how important it is to care for our community’s most vulnerable patients and ensure no one falls through the gaps.

After working at Valleywise Health 20 years ago and returning three years ago, Lorna has been inspired by how much the organization has grown - from its commitment to patient safety to the incredible care happening across the system every day. Through the Heart of Valleywise Health, she gives back to help strengthen that mission and support the underserved patients who rely on Valleywise. 💙

Thank you to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community for their generous support of Labor & Delivery at Valleywise Health. 💙

This funding will help provide equipment, supplies and staff training that enhance comfort, safety, and support for moms, babies, and families during some of life’s most important moments. From birthing tubs and bassinets to wireless fetal monitors and breast pumps, these resources will make a meaningful difference for the patients we serve every day.

Before officially joining the Valleywise Health team, Trina Cooper was already a familiar face on campus as a shuttle driver, helping employees and patients get where they needed to go.

Now as a parking lot attendant, Trina continues to make a difference every day by helping employees and patients feel welcome and supported from the moment they arrive. Through the Heart of Valleywise Health employee giving program, she also chooses to give back to the Foundation, supporting the mission of exceptional care for all. 💙

Salt River Project heard that the NICU supply closet at Valleywise Health Medical Center was almost bare and stepped in to help. Their generosity provided more than 300 swaddling wraps, blankets, and receiving blankets to help create a more soothing, comforting environment for our most vulnerable newborns.

Every day in the NICU at Valleywise Health, our teams care for premature and critically ill babies who need specialized support from the very start. Simple comforts like soft blankets and swaddles can make a meaningful difference in promoting healing, comfort, and developmental care.

Thank you to Delta Dental of Arizona for helping bring dental care to patients while they are in the hospital. Because of their generosity, Valleywise Health will be able to expand access to oral healthcare by adding a dedicated dental hygienist to support hospitalized patients.

“For many of the patients we serve, a hospital stay may be the only time they have access to oral healthcare,” said Christopher Brendemuhl, DMD, Chair & Director of Dentistry at Valleywise Health. “Integrating dental services into the inpatient setting allows us to reach some of our most vulnerable community members, reduce the risk of serious complications, and treat the whole person with the dignity and compassion they deserve. This is what safety-net care looks like in action.”
