Soil & Seed Update 🧑‍🌾
The solarization sheets are off, and we’re getting the beds ready for planting! 🌱 Solarization helps by killing off pests and weeds—but it also wipes out the good microbes. To bring life back into the soil, we brought in rich, living soil from Arizona Worm Farm. Next up: shaping the rows and gearing up for fall planting! 🍂

Employee Appreciation Post 🌱
Today we’re celebrating our Soil & Seed Grower, Hanita!

Hanita joined us at the beginning of this year and has done an incredible job maintaining a garden that’s not only functional but also beautiful. Even through the summer heat, she’s provided us with an abundance of vegetables that we’ve been pickling for the upcoming season.

With nearly 10 years in the farming industry, Hanita first discovered her passion and talent while working at a community garden at Hope House Farms in Central Phoenix. Since then, she has worked in gardens throughout Phoenix, as well as several years in Costa Rica working in organic coffee and agroforestry. In 2018, she earned her Sustainable Agriculture degree from Mesa Community College.

Hanita takes pride in growing healthy food, caring for the soil, and striking the perfect balance between function and beauty. We are so grateful for all she does to grow delicious food for our restaurants and to keep The Farm a beautiful place for our guests to enjoy. 🌿✨

Making progress on our remodel! While these are uncertain times and we don’t yet know exactly how long construction will take, we’re staying hopeful. Though we’re disappointed we can’t open today as planned, we’re looking forward to unveiling a beautiful finished space.

In the meantime, we’re getting creative to keep our amazing staff working—and we’ve got something exciting in the works! A new concept, inspired by Q Smoked Meats, is on the way. Stay tuned for details!

Summer break for Quiessence has been extended. A quick bar renovation turned into a bigger project when we discovered a leak beneath the floors. We are planning to reopen in early fall. Stay tuned for updates as we complete our projects and renovations!

Another summer project underway is Soil Solarization! We are solarizing 2 of our plots at Soil & Seed Garden so they are ready for fall planting. These white tarps remain on the soil for 2 months to cook off all the unwanted weeds. After we remove the tarps, we will amend the soil, till it and shape the rows for planting!
