It started with a fall. It grew into friendship that feels like family.

After a lifetime of working the land, Mr. Eddy lost his mobility in an instant. “I just had to lay there until someone came. I couldn’t get up,” he says.

His family lives nearly 700 miles away, and while they couldn’t be there every day to help, his daughter knew he still deserved to feel safe, supported, and cared for.

That’s when she found Home Instead—and Jacquie came into his life.

From the beginning, they just clicked.
They’ve got their own secret handshake.

Mr. Eddy can’t get enough of her southern cooking.
And Jacquie? She listens like a friend, soaking up his stories and life lessons from decades on the farm.

What started as help around the house became something deeper—companionship, laughter, and trust.

Because when family can’t be there, someone like Jacquie can. Someone who shows up with heart. ❤️

Caring for a loved one can be rewarding — but it’s also a full-time job. That’s where respite care comes in. It gives family caregivers a much-needed break while ensuring their loved one continues receiving compassionate care at home.

✨ Because sometimes the best way to care for your loved one is to care for yourself, too.

Sometimes the best “small steps” in caregiving aren’t tasks at all — they’re moments.

One of our Care Pros recently spent the evening watching the baseball playoffs with a client, and you could see the joy on both their faces. ⚾❤️ It wasn’t part of a care plan, it wasn’t scheduled, and it didn’t take anything more than being present — but it made a huge impact.

That video is a great reminder: connection doesn’t always come from big gestures. It comes from sitting side by side, cheering on a favorite team, and sharing a memory in real time.

Caregiving isn’t just about what we do — it’s about how we show up. And sometimes, showing up looks like the seventh inning and a box of Cracker Jacks.

Meet Sarah’s Story — and Why She Finally Found Help

For months, Sarah was doing everything she could to care for her aging parents.
Her mom had begun forgetting simple things like turning off the stove and taking her morning medications. Her dad, once active and organized, was now overwhelmed by clutter and unable to keep up with basic chores.

Sarah worked full-time, raised her kids, and still rushed over every evening to check in. She worried constantly—
• Did Mom remember her pills?
• Is the house safe?
• How long can I keep doing this alone?

She was exhausted, guilty, and scared she was failing the people who raised her.

Then she discovered Home Instead.

Everything changed.

Home Instead stepped in with exactly the support her family needed:

✅ Medication Reminders
A Care Pro helped ensure her mom took the right medications at the right time—no more guessing or missed doses.

✅ Light Housekeeping
They kept the home tidy, laundry folded, dishes done, and the environment safe and comfortable—giving Sarah peace of mind.

✅ Support for Cognitive Impairment
Her mom now has patient, trained caregivers who understand memory loss and know how to keep her engaged, calm, and supported with dignity.

Most importantly, Sarah stopped feeling like she had to choose between being a daughter and being a caregiver. With Home Instead by her side, she became both—without burning out.

If you’re where Sarah was, you don’t have to do it alone. 💜
Home Instead is here to help you care for the people you love most.

This is why we walk. 💜

When Michelle’s dad, Don, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 69, her family’s world changed forever. Over 10 years, she watched him go from living at home with caregivers to assisted living, and eventually to an Alzheimer’s unit before he passed away at age 79.

Earlier this year, dementia touched her family again when Michelle’s mom, Sandy, had a stroke and heart attack that rapidly advanced her dementia. Now in memory care, Michelle visits Sandy every evening. Despite these challenges, she finds gratitude: “Even though my mom has changed, I’m still creating memories with her.”

For Michelle, Walk to End Alzheimer’s is about honoring her parents and connecting with others. Each year, she joins her Home Instead team and others in the senior care community to walk not in sadness, but in hope for a cure.

It’s because of passionate people like Michelle that Home Instead, a Walk to End Alzheimer’s Gold National Team, has raised nearly $5.5 million over the past 17 years — including $280,000 just last year — to advance critical Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

Together with the , we’re fighting for a future without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Let’s make 2025 our most impactful year yet. 💪

It’s hotter than a pepper sprout out there! 🥵

And while we’re all reaching for iced drinks and fans, older adults need a little extra care to stay safe in the summer heat.

Here’s your caregiver-approved summer safety toolkit for aging loved ones:

💧 Hydrate with variety – Water is essential, but try chilled fruit, herbal iced tea, smoothies, or even popsicles to keep it fun and refreshing.

👒 Dress smart – Light, breathable clothing and wide-brimmed hats help regulate temperature and protect sensitive skin.

🌬️ Cool it down – If there’s no AC, use fans, cold washcloths, or even a bowl of cool water for hands and wrists to provide quick relief.

🌿 Time outdoor activities wisely – Early mornings or evenings are safest. A short stroll, porch chat, or birdwatching can bring joy without overheating.

👂 Connect with care – Sometimes, just being present — listening, sharing a memory, or sitting together — is the best form of comfort.

Let’s keep our older adults safe, seen, and supported this summer.
