It’s that magical time of year again. I’m heading to my ELEVENTH ASHA Convention this week! If it’s your first, or if it’s been a while, check out some tips I’ve learned over the years! If you see me around, please say hi! I’ll be piling on the CEUs this year in supervision, teaching, and some content courses in the areas I teach!

Just hanging out in my little happy area of the world. Which AAC devices are your go-to for the population you work with? I love Lamp Words for Life! I’m prepping an eye gaze activity for an upcoming university event with LAMP and some other fun AAC to help high schoolers see the magic of our profession!

My job is fun! 🤓 I had a great time teaming up with my colleague and friend, Jennifer Buckler, to present a fun session on teaching and supervising Gen Z for the CHS 2023 Teaching and Learning Seminar Series! 👏👩🏼‍🏫

If you are in the business of teaching and/or supervising, you know that academic instruction and clinical supervision are ever-evolving. Effective teaching and supervision require one to be knowledgeable in traditional aspects of their role as well as the needs of the students. Generation Z is now the predominant learner group on our campuses and under our supervision. SLPs and others may struggle to adapt to new ideas, technology, and type of students. This presentation provided some insight into Gen-Z, who they are, what they are seeking, and how they learn. [No TikTok was harmed in the making of this presentation]

Yesterday was a big day!!! 4.5 years ago, I started my doctoral program in organizational leadership with an emphasis in special education at Grand Canyon University. This program and the dissertation process challenged me in ways I never expected, taught me about research and data, introduced me to some amazing people, and opened some really fun doors for me.

I am so very excited to announce that my doctoral journey is officially complete as the Dean signed my dissertation yesterday afternoon. This means that I am officially Dr. Danielle Reed!! 😱 It took 4+ crazy hard and exhausting years, but I really did it!!! I don’t have that never-ending cloud of “to-do” items hanging over my head… strange feeling!

Thank you to everyone who supported/encouraged me, dealt with a computer being permanently attached to me for 4+ years, and loved me through this process. Particularly, of course, my fiancée, who has had to share me with my dissertation for our entire relationship. Time to celebrate!

🎷I’m so excited to be in NOLA for !🎺 Will I see you around the convention center this week? If so, say hello!
