WE DID IT!! It took us for what seemed like a life time to get this step forward. I still have questions as to who will provide the training and if the local mental health crisis response team will be on each pick-up call? I will know soon. Fran Garrett Michelle's mother thanks the community. I thank everyone who continued to put pressure on Greg Stanton and our city Manger to make changes. This isn't everything we wanted , but it is a start for change. Which we are so thankful for. The Phoenix Police Department has announced changes in the way its officers handle mental health cases.

In response to the 2012 theater killings, Colorado added clinics, hotlines and mobile units to support early crisis prevention. At the heart of the initiative are 13 walk-in crisis centers.

I need your support. Please sign my petition, save this much needed community program.

Industrial Alliance STOP the bullying of Singleton Housing and take responsibility for the damage your organization has caused to a program that has helped so many living with physical and mental disabilities.
Singleton Housing, LLC and Singleton Community Service Inc, Non-Profit grassroots organization is striving to make their community a better place by creating affordable supportive housing and services for those living with physical and mental disabilities. In efforts to fill the growing demand place on their program for more housing Singleton entered into the Master Lease with Industrial Alliance, at Brookfield Terrace Apartments, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Industrial Alliance and Paul Ash Management made multiple promises to fix and repair the property to induce Singleton Housing into placing individuals there to live. They completed a quick fix (a very nice flip) which gave the appearance that all work had been completed. Unfortunately, Industrial Alliance and Paul Ash Management failed to fulfill the obligations of the contract in regards to fixing and maintaining the property. Sometime after taking possession of the property, there were many leaks ,floods, mold damage, cooling and heating systems started to fail and the building literally started to fall apart.

During the process of the minimal repairs that had been made, Singleton Housing discovered they (Industrial Alliance and Paul Ash Management) had failed to disclose problems with the building which would or could be hazardous to any occupant therein.

Despite knowing of the hazardous problems Industrial Alliance and Paul Ash Management failed to notify us or any other tenants and continue to deny that there were any existing problems and refused to completely and appropriately repair the defects of the building.

In fact, as we did later discover, Industrial Alliance and Paul Ash Management filed insurance claims and lawsuit alleging damages for the same problems they were denying existed.

Now, Industrial Alliance, a Canadian –based $106.9 billion dollar Insurance and Investment company with holdings in the United States, filed a $400,000 lawsuit against Singleton Housing for a breach of contract. The suit is without merit and has cost Singleton Housing time and monies that should have been directed toward expanding the model, rather than draining the available resources. Industrial Alliance is also liable to Singleton for maintaining the Property in - what can only be described as - deplorable and uninhabitable conditions. It's like big corporate bullying .

We want Industrial Alliance to do the right thing and pay for the damages that they caused to our program and to the tenants. This will allow us to reestablish our housing program for our most vulnerable population.

Listen to The Pulse - AZ Radio Show at 4pm on doublewidenetowrk.com (click on the listen now tab) Our Guest today Valerie Iverson, Arizona Housing Alliance and Joan Serviss, Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness will explain up coming laws or bills that will help or hurt funding for affordable housing and the restoration of the housing fund trust.

Hard working families, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities should be able to pay for their home and still have enough left over to buy basics like groceries, gas, and child care.
When people live in stable homes, children achieve more in school, families are stronger, and seniors and people with disabilities live with dignity.

We have a responsibility to care for the most vulnerable among us; our seniors, people who are disabled, and veterans who are homeless. Established in 1988, the Housing Trust Fund is funded by the sale of unclaimed property. Due to budget cuts it was slashed from over $30 million to $2.5 million. It’s time to restore the Housing Trust Fund!

My family & I just witnessed the most kind gesture ever..

There was an elderly homeless man sitting outside of Panda Express on Wilmot & Golflinks. We stopped and spoke with the man who had a bandage on his nose and dry blood. He said he was asleep and woke up crying because someone had smashed his face with a river rock. The ambulance took him to St. Joseph's, took x-rays, and says he was released. We went into the restaurant and shortly thereafter, the manager and a co-woker went outside and were speaking with the man. We were kind of upset because he began packing all his items up into a shopping cart, we for sure thought they told him to leave the property. The employees return into the store and shortly the man and a shopping cart enter as well. The manager let's him choose a few entrees and sides. While the man was eating, the manager also hands him money from his pocket. That sight filled me with joy! We spoke with the magner and expressed our gratitude to him, he was such a humble human being. Thank you Kyle for your kindness and caring heart. May God bless both these men. Thank you God for allowing us to witness this blessing.
