Here’s what trauma really does to the brain and why healing takes more than “just moving on.”
When the brain experiences trauma, it re-prioritizes survival over logic and memory. That’s why people may feel foggy, disconnected, or on edge.
This isn’t a personal failing. It’s neuroscience.
The brain adapts under threat, and with support, it can adapt again toward safety, calm, and clarity.
Share this if you or someone you love needs to know.

Therapy vs. Psychiatry vs. Neurology – What’s the Difference? Let’s break it down.
Struggling with anxiety, memory issues, or emotional burnout but not sure who to see? At A Ray of Hope Neurology and Psychiatry, we offer comprehensive, compassionate care across three specialties:
- Therapy helps you explore emotions, manage stress, and build coping skills through one-on-one talk therapy with a licensed professional.
- Psychiatry provides clinical evaluations and medication management from board-certified doctors.
- Neurology focuses on brain and nervous system care for migraines, memory loss, or seizures.
Whether you need a safe space to talk, a diagnosis and treatment plan, or specialized brain health support, our Phoenix team is here for you.

Aggression Is Contagious: Observing Violence Primes the Brain for Aggression
A new study reveals that witnessing aggression can prime the brain for violent behavior, but only under specific social conditions.
Male mice who watched familiar peers attack others later showed increased aggression themselves, while witnessing strangers attack did not produce the same effect.
Recordings from the amygdala showed neurons active during these familiar attacks, suggesting a “mirror” of aggression priming in the observer.
When these neurons were artificially inhibited, later aggression was suppressed, pointing to a neural basis for observationally learned violence.
