Osteopenia vs. osteoporosis: What’s the difference? Both conditions involve reduced bone density, but the degree matters. A bone density test, or T-score, helps identify each:

▪️Osteoporosis: T-score of 2.5 or lower
▪️Osteopenia: T-score between 1 and 2.5
▪️Normal: T-score above 1

Because bone loss is often silent, screening is key — especially for women over 65, men over 70, or anyone with risk factors like smoking, steroid use or a prior fracture.

Congratulations to Cynthia, who recently received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses!

Read this excerpt from the nomination:
"My family member recently had a heart procedure and was very nervous about it. Cynthia met us early in the morning. She was professional, kind, and quickly helped calm the fear. She made sure everything flowed smoothly and checked in often to ease discomfort.

Later in the day, when my family member began feeling very sick and then experienced a complication, Cynthia was right there. She acted quickly, applied the needed care, and stayed by the bedside until things were stable again. What could have been one of the scariest days turned into a reassuring experience because of Cynthia. She is caring, compassionate, and patient — truly an angel who was ready to help at every moment."

Mayo Clinic is among over 5,000 healthcare organizations worldwide committed to the DAISY Award program. The DAISY Award is presented each month to an extraordinary nurse.

Want healthier meals all week? Prepping a few ingredients over the weekend makes weeknight cooking easier — and healthier. Try these five simple tasks:

▪️Chop vegetables for quick meals.
▪️Cook grains or lentils while you relax.
▪️Make a sauce or salad dressing.
▪️Roast one vegetable to use all week.
▪️Cook one protein to repurpose for meals.

A little weekend work means less stress and more healthy eating during the week.

It isn’t easy to prepare home-cooked, healthy meals all week long. But your chances of success are much higher if you’re not starting from scratch…
