This Black Maternal Health Week, we honor the strength of Black mothers, the wisdom passed through generations, and the importance of culturally rooted, respectful care.

Every heartbeat matters. Every mother deserves to be heard, supported, and safe. We will continue providing culturally congruent midwifery care to help make that happen. 🤎

If it’s not one thing, it’s another. The latest shenanigans from ADHS are pretty wild. But as we know, this community is a FORCE and we are not going to back down until our voices are heard and until we have a safer Arizona for mothers and babies. Please take 3 mins to see an email to Gov. Hobbs to let her know that HB2251 is ESSENTIAL for the health and safety of community birth in Arizona. We need your voice!!

It has been my honor to serve our community on the board of This work has stretched me (and so many others) to our max but we are committed to our community of midwives and our incredible community birth families. This fight is far from over, but last week was a HUGE step in the right direction!

Thank you to all of our amazing community advocates like Dr. Brass-Jones, OBGYN. Dr. Brass-Jones has been an incredible voice for midwives for years and she took the time out of her busy week to come to the Capitol and speak to the importance of HB2251. She spoke about the strain on hospital systems and how community-based midwives are part of the solution.

On Wednesday, HB2251 made it through the Regulatory Affairs and Government Efficiency Committee in the Senate! We are more than half way done with the process and it feels surreal. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported as we have collectively pushed for better laws surrounding midwifery in Arizona. Thank you especially to for your testimony on Wednesday in favor of HB2251. We are so grateful for representatives who listen and care deeply about the people of Arizona. 🤎
