Round ligament pain can catch so many moms-to-be off guard⌠one second youâre getting up from the couch, rolling over in bed, sneezing, laughing, or walking too fast⌠and the next âĄď¸ sharp pain in your lower belly.
The good news? In many pregnancies, round ligament pain is completely normal and happens as the ligaments supporting your growing uterus stretch and adjust. đ¤
Itâs often described as:â¨â˘ Sharp, pulling, or stabbing painâ¨â˘ Usually felt on one or both sides of the lower abdomen/groinâ¨â˘ Triggered by sudden movementâ¨â˘ More common in the 2nd trimester
While round ligament pain is common, severe pain, bleeding, fever, contractions, or pain that doesnât improve should always be checked by your provider.
Pregnancy comes with a LOT of changes, and knowing whatâs normal can help ease some of the anxiety. â¨
