As fall sports ramp up, it's important that if you have a student-athlete or support one, to understand the importance of injury prevention. Here are some tips you can share:

Rest
Make sure you're adding rest days to the schedule. Letting the body heal is important to having the energy to perform in future practices and games.

Wear the Right Gear

Stay Hydrated Whether a sports drink or plain water, drinking enough fluids is important before, during and after games to avoid dehydration.

Warm Up
Warming up and stretching the body before practice or a game will help prevent injuries.

The summer heat is here, and it is important to keep your family and the kids in your life safe and healthy. Kids don’t always know when they need to drink water or when they're dehydrated. As an adult in their life, it is important to remind them and help them build good hydration habits early in life. Some tips include:

- Make sure they have a big drink after any sports activity to make up for any sweat they have lost.
- Keep a jug of fresh tap water within reach, and on warm days, keep the jug of water in the fridge.
- Send a labelled, clear water bottle with them to school or camp/daycare each day. Find tips at https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/hydration-tips-for-children
