Motherhood is such a beautiful part of who you are but it should never be the only part. 🤍

As life changes and children grow, it’s important for moms to continue nurturing their own identity, passions, friendships, goals, and mental health too. Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It helps you stay grounded through every season of life.

This Mother’s Day we’re celebrating the women behind the role and reminding moms that you matter too. 🌷

If you’re struggling through a life transition or feeling disconnected from yourself, we’re here to help.

PROVIDER SPOTLIGHT: David Thibault DPN, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHS🌟

David has a heart for working with kids and teens and it shows in the way he connects with each client. From anxiety and depression to ADHD and trauma, he creates a space where young people feel understood, supported, and safe to be themselves.

His background in pediatric mental and behavioral health, along with his experience in both residential and hospital settings, gives him a well-rounded perspective on what kids really need. He takes a thoughtful, whole-person approach to care, focusing not just on symptoms, but on overall well-being.

When he’s not in the clinic or teaching future nurses at Utah Tech, you can find him spending time with his wife and two daughters or cheering on his favorite teams.

If your child or teen could use extra support, we’re here for you.💚

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a powerful approach for learning how to navigate life’s more intense moments with clarity and control.🧠

Chris Taggart, LCSW, is now offering a 12-week DBT group for adults focused on building practical skills to stay present, regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and communicate more effectively in everyday life.

This group is designed to be supportive, structured, and applicable to real-world challenges—whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns, or simply looking to strengthen your emotional resilience.💚

Sessions will begin May 13th at our Morningside office and will be held weekly on Wednesdays from 5:15–6:15 PM. Cost is $50 per session, and insurance may cover group therapy.

If you’ve been considering additional support, this is a meaningful place to start.

Call our office at 435.652.1897 to reserve your spot.

We asked our provider, Darrell Benson, “If you could give a message to someone on the fence about therapy, what would you say?”

His answer… everyone needs a space to feel comfortable. A space to clear their mind, free of judgment or critique. A place where they can be unapologetically themselves.

In today’s society, we’re often scared of criticism from those around us. What if they have different opinions or perspectives? With societal standards at an all-time high, it’s important to give yourself time to decompress. Let it all out without the worry of judgment. That’s exactly what we strive to create here at Mental Health & Wellness. We welcome everyone, regardless of beliefs or opinions, and are here to help you move toward a happier, healthier life.💚

April is National Stress Awareness Month, and it’s a good time to check in with yourself.

Stress doesn’t always show up the way you expect. It can look like trouble sleeping, constant fatigue, irritability, headaches, or feeling overwhelmed by things that normally feel manageable.

Small shifts can make a difference. Getting outside, moving your body, setting boundaries, and giving your mind space to slow down are all simple ways to start regulating stress. But sometimes, it goes deeper than that.

If stress is starting to affect your daily life, you don’t have to manage it alone. Our team at Mental Health & Wellness of Southern Utah is here to support you with personalized care that meets you where you’re at.

Call or book an appointment today. We’re here to help💚

Genetics can play a bigger role in your mental health than you might think… but they’re only part of the story.

In this video, Nicole Cummins breaks down how genetic testing can help take some of the guesswork out of treatment. From understanding how your body responds to certain medications to creating a more personalized approach to care, it’s about finding what actually works for you.

Mental health isn’t one size fits all. Your care shouldn’t be either.

If you’ve ever felt frustrated with trial and error, this could be a step toward more clarity.

We’re here to help. Call to schedule an appointment today💚

PROVIDER SPOTLIGHT: Brooks Wiley, APRN🌟

Born and raised in Southern Utah, Brooks developed a deep respect for education early on—and that passion for learning still drives the way he shows up for his clients today.

With experience across inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, and residential programs, Brooks has worked with individuals of all ages navigating everything from ADHD and anxiety to mood disorders and schizophrenia. His approach is both grounded and expansive, blending traditional psychiatry with natural interventions.

Brooks specializes in psychedelic psychotherapy, supporting clients through preparation and integration with plant medicine. He’s passionate about bridging the gap between the medical model and natural healing—creating a space where both can work together.

Outside of the office, Brooks is a husband and dad to six. You’ll usually find him with his family—camping, fishing, riding ATVs, or spending time at the beach, all grounded by a daily meditation practice ✨
