🎉 Happy APP Week! 🎉
📅 September 22–26

This week, we celebrate our incredible Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) — the Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) who deliver compassionate, expert care every day.

APPs are highly trained healthcare professionals who work alongside physicians and other clinicians to diagnose, treat, and care for patients across all settings. Their dedication, skill, and heart make a powerful impact on the lives of those they serve. We love our APPs! ❤

🎀 Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night at the Dixie Round-Up Rodeo 🎀

We’re proud to partner once again with the St George UT Lions Club for Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night at the Dixie Roundup Rodeo — happening this Friday, September 19!

This powerful campaign raises awareness and funds for breast cancer research, patient care, and emotional support services — all benefiting the Intermountain Health St. George Regional Cancer Center. 💗 Since this partnership began, the St. George Lions Club has raised and donated over $200,000. We couldn’t be more grateful for their support!

We love this photo of Lions Club members proudly wearing their pink shirts as they present local Intermountain Health leaders with a $15,000 check — proceeds from last year’s Roundup. Their generosity and commitment make a real difference in the lives of patients and families in our community.

We’re incredibly grateful for the Lions Club’s continued support and for everyone who joins us in wearing pink to show that we’re Tough Enough to Wear Pink. 💪💕

Join us Friday night, September 19, at the Dixie Roundup and help us turn the arena pink in support of breast cancer fighters and survivors!

If you think someone might be considering su***de, ask them. While it may feel counterintuitive or even uncomfortable, research shows that asking others about su***de reduces su***de risk. Try questions like:

• “Seems like something is up, wanna talk about it?”
• “I noticed you have been more withdrawn, are you doing okay?”
• “Have you had thoughts of su***de?”
• “Are you considering ending your life?”

“Asking the question does not increase the chances of someone harming themselves, it does the opposite,” said Matt Steinkamp, director of the Intermountain Employee Assistance Program (IEAP). “Someone asking the question provides the opportunity for the person to answer it. People feeling this way often feel shame or guilt for doing so or assume that no one cares or would care if they followed through with su***de. Asking the question opens up the opportunity to talk about how they are feeling. Asking the question shows you care and want to help. It can take the focus off the hopelessness the person is feeling and begin to focus on getting the support they need.”

Here’s a course with tools and resources you can use to help someone experiencing thoughts of su***de: https://liveonutah.org/

Not because people aren’t curious about it – they are. The internet is packed with ads, tips, supplements, and shampoos promising a fix. The hard part is knowing what’s real and what’s just another myth.

Those myths can keep men from seeking out treatments that actually work. And they can delay care to the point where treatments may not help as much as they could.

Don't let hair loss myths hold you back. Discover the truth behind 5 common misconceptions and learn how Intermountain Health's on-demand service offers real, evidence-based treatment options for men

At Intermountain Health, we believe that mental wellness is just as important as physical health—and that belief doesn’t end when Mental Health Awareness Month does. That’s why we’re proud to partner with organizations that share our commitment to supporting mental health in our communities year-round.

We teamed up with the Las Vegas Raiders and The Defensive Line to host “The Strongest Play – Winning the Mental Game On and Off the Field”—a free, interactive mental wellness field day for youth and families at the Intermountain Health Performance Center in Henderson, Nevada.

Intermountain Health, the Las Vegas Raiders, and The Defensive Line hosted a powerful youth mental wellness event in Nevada--featuring fitness, mindfulness, and real conversations to break the stigma around mental health. Discover how this community-dri...

Run it like you mean it.
Intermountain Health St. George Regional Hospital President, Natalie Ashby, and Cedar City Hospital President, Jamison Robinett, don't just encourage their communities to live the healthiest lives possible. They put action behind their words. They challenged each other to put the Intermountain mission to the test by running some Southern Utah races.

This weekend, they finished a joint half marathon together at the Cedar City Half Marathon.

They pounded some serious Cedar Canyon pavement to inspire others to live healthy in their Southern Utah communities.

Patients in a remote area of Fairbanks, Alaska, now have broader access to greatly needed cancer services due to a groundbreaking telehealth partnership between Intermountain Health and the Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC).

The Telehealth Oncology collaboration brings comprehensive cancer care closer to home for Alaska Native populations across a vast and remote region. This is a group research shows, has a higher rate of cancers than non-Native Alaskans.

The TeleOncology partnership with Intermountain Health is designed to reduce travel time and expenses, allowing many patients to remain in their communities during cancer treatment and receive the best possible treatment and comprehensive cancer care.

After initial in-person oncology treatments in Fairbanks, many patients can continue follow-up care remotely, including some lab monitoring and telehealth consultations.

In an emergency, a few minutes can make all the difference. That’s why Intermountain Health teamed up with Utah’s largest school districts to teach staff the three principles of Stop The Bleed:

-Pressure
-Wound Packing
-Tourniquets

“Teaching people proper CPR for the last several decades has made a huge difference in saving lives and now Stop the Bleed training is aiming to do the same,” said Maranda Davis, RN, trauma services manager for Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. “Providing our educators an opportunity to have a hands-on experience with tools is a key component to this training. It helps remove the hesitancy someone may have due to what they have seen in movies or on TV.”

Staff from nearly 90 schools in the Alpine School District gathered for a Stop The Bleed training course before school started, allowing them to be prepared members of the community should they be faced with an emergency situation.
