This weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to lead a 1:1 drum-making ceremony with someone I met at the Beltane Fest last spring. Shortly after, he reached out, expressing his desire for guidance in building a deep and lasting relationship with the drum he felt called to create. It was truly inspiring to witness his connection with his drum evolve on such a personal level throughout every step of the process.

He also asked me to add some artwork to the drum, and I’m so grateful I was able to finish it just in time before I left town. Now, he’s able to take his new drum home and embark on the mystical journeys ahead.

During meditation, he received guidance to keep his relationship with his drum private for a time, allowing their bond to grow and deepen naturally. Out of respect for that sacred process, I won’t be sharing pictures of the drum just yet — but I will, as soon as spirit gives me the green light!

I was meandering through a pottery studio when I stumbled upon this printed paper taped to the wall.

I’ve dabbled in crafting all my life but nothing has ever stuck and I think that part of the reason (besides my ADHD 🤣) was because I never connected to anything on the heart level.

Working with drums has allowed me to open my heart to frustration, joy, patience, love, pride, acceptance, and pure pleasure from doing something that I love.

Support your artisans, buy local, contribute to your community and allow us to keep doing what we love because without you, there is no us! 💚

A year and a half ago, I found this horn at a thrift shop and thought to myself “I wonder if I could make this a rattle!” Well I did. I held on to the horn rattle for a while, not knowing what I was going to do with it and then it hit me…a drum handle! So I made this buffalo hide drum with this horn rattle and it makes this soft shaker sound when the drum played. I also paired this drum with a rattle drum stick which is such a great combination!

Embracing the energies of the four seasons!

Spring is a time of renewal and new beginnings, inviting us to plant our seeds of intention and let our creativity grow. As we move into summer, we experience the peak of abundance and vitality—it’s the perfect moment to celebrate our achievements and bask in the warmth of connection and joy. Autumn brings a period of harvest and reflection, reminding us to embrace gratitude, evaluate our journeys, and let go of what no longer serves us. Finally, winter offers a season of introspection and rest, encouraging us to go inward, recharge, and prepare for the rebirth that spring will soon bring.

I made this drum to embrace each of the seasons and to remind myself that we are cyclical beings. What once was will be again but you will never be what you once were and there is beauty in that.

Thor was such an interesting energy to be in while I was making this drum. With such a masculine presence, he embodies strength, protection, loyalty, and fertility.

Strength isn’t just about physical power; it’s about the unyielding spirit that fights for what’s right. But Thor is more than just a warrior—he is a loyal protector of his people, standing by his friends and family through every storm. His loyalty teaches us the value of having each other’s backs, no matter the challenges we face.

What surprised me was his connection to fertility. Just as the rains nourish the earth, Thor brings life and abundance to the crops and agriculture. Thor’s hammer has been used as a fertility symbol in marriages and in burials, symbolizing rebirth.
