Update: As our state moves into Yellow status, and we all hope that this virus is on its way out, I am tasked with attempting to find a way to begin services again while maintaining my safety and the safety of all of my beloved clients. Here is where we are at with things.
☘️ My insurance is still working on guidelines around what waivers and proceedures need to be inplace in the event of anyone contracting the virus, and what will and wont be covered.
☘️ABMP, NCBTMB and the like all have very basic guidelines for "safe practice" but all adknowledge that currently there is no 100% safe way to be offering hands on body work for 30/60/90/120 minutes in an enclosed space. We just know too little about the virus and there are too few people with any immunity to it.
☘️The state licensure board has not come forward with specific guidelines for massage therapists for any of the risk levels. it is encompased in "personal services" much like hair, nails, and lashes.
☘️Best practice guidelines currently involve disposable table and face cradle coverings, face masks worn by both the client and LMT, Covid Specific liabilty waivers, temp logs for clients and LMTs, and the use of gloves by the LMT.
I am working on getting all of the best practice items in place, I am in consistent contact with all relevant groups so I can keep on top of the suggestions and guidelines for each of these agencies, and I am trying my best to not extend the scheduling hiatus past what is necessary, but I feel that safety and an abundance of caution are prudent and morally necessary.
I miss you all, and I cannot wait to see your smiling faces and hear about how you've been during this uniquely challenging time.
Thank you for your patience while I work out the safest and best way to get back to doing what I love... which is helping YOU get back to doing what YOU love. relaxing.
