I made it home safely, I'm just waiting for scores from the event. I had such a great time learning so many things that will help me in my massage practice and I have a mentor to help me prepare for other championships!
A HUGE take home from these championships, is that although the competition is a showcase for the judges to see (and a lot of what we do is "unseen"), we don't look at it as a COMPETITION! We "compete" to show what we know, what we've learned, and get feedback (not criticism) on what we can do, to better ourselves and our art! I had the pleasure of having lunch with the World Champion, and his moto is "anyone, anywhere, any time" and I just absolutely loved hearing his thoughts on that! That's what we do as massage therapists, we help anyone to the best of our ability, whenever they need it and we can, and with whatever means we can.
