Virginia S Grenier MHC As I often say, "you are not who others say you are — you are who you choose to be."

I walk alongside my clients as they reconnect with themselves, strengthen their relationships, and move toward lives rooted in meaning, authenticity, and choice. I’m a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern, currently completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, where I’m finishing my internship hours under supervision. Wh

ile I’m still in training, I come into this work with decades of experience as a writer, editor, and nationally credentialed victim advocate through NOVA’s National Advocate Credentialing Program — and with a deep respect for how complex, layered, and non-linear healing really is. Before entering the clinical world, I spent years walking alongside survivors navigating grief, trauma, abuse, and recovery. That work — along with my own lived experience — taught me that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about reclaiming voice, restoring agency, and gently rewriting the narratives we carry about who we are and what we’re allowed to become. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating life transitions, trauma, grief and loss, chronic illness, identity questions, relationship and communication challenges, dissociation, addiction, and the impact of high-stress or service-oriented roles. I have particular experience supporting first responders, medical professionals, veterans, older adults, LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, parents, and those exploring non-traditional relationship structures. My approach is rooted in person-centered values, narrative, and logotherapy. In plain terms, that means I care deeply about your story, your sense of meaning, and the way your experiences have shaped how you see yourself and the world. I integrate trauma-informed care, polyvagal theory, somatic awareness, mindfulness, and expressive modalities like sand tray work to support both emotional understanding and nervous system regulation. Sessions with me are collaborative, paced, and responsive — there’s room for reflection, curiosity, and growth without pressure to “perform” or have everything figured out. At the heart of my work is a simple belief: healing begins when people feel genuinely seen and heard. As I often say, you are not who others say you are — you are who you choose to be.

I can’t give you happiness. But I can sit with you as you figure out how to make it—in ways that are real, sustainable, and true to you.

BREAKING🚨 A licensed mental health counselor was stabbed to death by a former patient inside her workplace practice in Orlando, Florida last night.

44-year-old Rebecca White was attacked inside an office building on Lee Road in Orange County after the suspect arrived and attempted to see her. When she refused the meeting, he forced his way inside and produced a knife.

White was stabbed multiple times. A male client who was inside the office at the time attempted to intervene and called 911 during the attack. He was also stabbed but survived after undergoing emergency surgery.

The suspect, 39-year-old Michael Smith, fled the scene following the assault. His body was found early this morning in a wooded area near Windy Ridge Road. Authorities believe he died by su***de.

Investigators have described the incident as targeted. The case remains under investigation as officials work to confirm the full timeline and motive.

I’m trained and certified in Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), a listening-based intervention designed to support nervous system regulation and a greater sense of safety and connection.

SSP can be especially helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma or PTSD, sensory sensitivity, emotional dysregulation, chronic stress, or difficulty with connection and calm. It works gently through sound to help the nervous system shift out of survival mode and into a more regulated, grounded state.

If you’re curious about SSP or wondering whether it might be a good fit for you or your child, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to talk through questions and explore options together.
