I’m a huge fan of easy to implement testing

A dead hang requires two pieces of equipment (bar and timer) and gives a ton of information

Especially for grapplers

Serious, competitive grapplers should be able to blow through a 90 sec hang too

Stretching your hip flexors will only get you so far

You have to lengthen, load, and control the muscle to make lasting change

Do this consistently and it translates into more mobility, decreased pain/tightness, and less days off the mat

Low back pain & grappling go hand in hand

And I guarantee the root cause of the problem is not that your low back and core is weak

Far more likely that the problem stems from overuse, chronic compression, and muscular fatigue

Breathing drills give the low back a break, gently decompress the spine, and allow muscles to recover

Foot health has to be addressed in a sport that takes place BAREFOOT🦶🏽

Do yourself a favor and make sure your foot is as strong and stable as possible
